For groundbeef 90% lean, it's usually well over $5 per LB out here. I guess that's a flash in the pan compared to what Marcus said they pay for food out in the UK, but I think it's outrageous. Regardless, you really wouldn't like 100% lean ground beef even if you could find it. The fat gives the meat flavour and texture. If you want better control of your ground meats fat content and overall quality, you could just buy a meat grinder yourself. Here's a cheap good one: Amazon.com: Norpro Meat Grinder, Mincer, and Pasta Maker: Kitchen & Dining It's hand-cranked, but grinding meat for one person shouldn't be THAT big of a deal. And it's easy to clean too!

If you end up grinding a lot of meats, you might want to eventually get a motorized one. But you really got to look in to the reviews about them. The shitty ones will jam a lot, the motors will either be under-powered for some cuts (or burnout quickly) and can be really hard to safely clean (sanitation is the most important factor in a grinder).

The attachment for the kitchen-aid is about $50 I think. Not too bad
