Does Pete Rose belong in the Hall of Fame?

Anyone else watch the Pete Rose Mock Trial on ESPN? Apparantly MLB was unable to prove whether or not Pete Rose ever betted on baseball. Amazingly his ineligiblity from the Hall of Fame is solely based on allegations. The jury ended up voting in favor of allowing Pete Rose the right to qualify for the Hall of Fame. I couldn't agree more. 15 yr ban from baseball...the man served his time.

I agree, I always thought it was pretty shitty how they didn't let him in the hall. Definately one of the best players of all time.

Abso-fucking-lutely!!! They let crackhead players like Strawberry come and go out of rehab yet scorn ol Petey for something they couldn't even prove he did.

Ty Cobb once battled his way into and through the stands to beat a crippled man with (i believe) his cleat! And this was not alleged, either. Yet he's prominently displayed in Cooperstown.

the hall of fame is about performance as a player, not their pastimes or bad habits. rose should be there, and then they should close baseball, its boring and a waste of money. id rather watch two rats **** than a baseball game

Ahhhh, same question and yet another year has passed and Pete Rose, the best hitter baseball has ever known, is left sitting on the sidelines watching others get inducted into the hall. Hasn't that loser Selig dropped dead yet? Cmon already, Petey has paid his dues and waited long enough, LET HIM IN!!!

He's a liar and only admitted to betting on baseball to help his chances of being elected to the Hall of Fame and to promote his new book. He doesn't know how to feel sorry. Does a player with his stats deserve to be a member of the Hall of Fame? Yes. Does a player who bet on his own team deserve to be reinstated? No. I think the integrity of the game would be compromised by reinstating him, and that's the real issue here anyways. No person banned from baseball can be a member of the Hall and that's the way I think it should remain.

I think MudMan can agree with me here, beings that we route for the teams in the City of Brotherly Love. Pete was what got the Phillies over the hump in 1980. The Phillies who are the loosingest team in Pro Sports history! That he was one of the altime greats in baseball and his "Charlie Hustle" and Schmidty's Bat and glove work, The Bull's Luzinski's Bat, Bowa's heart.... well, I'll always love him the PLAYER. But he disgraced the game, and that's something that should never happen! Baseball should put him in with a disclaimer. Hell he's already got a ton of stuff in the hall! so they're being hyprocritcal!

He should be in the hall of fame, but should not be allowed anywhere near the day-to-day operations of a big league club.

Pete held onto that lie for a very long time! If it was the dumbass Hall of Fame he would be the first bust, but his baseball prowess is clear! I would allow him into the Hall, but still inpose a timed ban away from Baseball for another 5 years!

isn't one of the things that qualify a person ... is not just "are they a great player" ... but what that person did for the game... the instatution of the game..??

He broke the cardinal rule in baseball. Sports are nothing without the integrity of the game and its players. Was he a great player? Yes. But he crossed the line. Sorry Pete, no HOF for you.

He admitted in his book he did in fact bet on baseball. 4000+ hits should be an automatic berth into the Hall Of Fame. He deserves to be in there.

Yes he belongs! If your gonna ban him then you might as well ban a few others too. For instance if barry bonds gets hemmed up for steroid use, forfeit his homerun record and ban him too!
