yes . you can't load glycogen without fluid . for every molecule of glycogen loaded it carries 3-5x its weight in water .. if you don't take in hydrated carbs like wet rice, and use rice cakes instead, the carb will pull water from wherever it can and load as glycogen.. and in this way you will actually pull sub q water and put it into muscle cells .
btw - this is totally person and situation dependent . some people pre contest don't need rice cakes and they actually need water and sodium . some people may just need rice cakes with almond butter and extra fats . it all depends
