Blasted my ears for decades with hard-core, aggressive metal; loud enough to completely drown out conversations & the music played by the gym. My hearing suffered because of it. For the past 4 months, I just tolerate what’s played (they keep it at reasonable levels thankfully) and I’ve adjusted. My hearing thanks me for it & I’m not ready yet for hearing aids (but the time is coming). However, in the car, it’s hardcore, aggressive metal (just not at the intersections).

Every time I go to the gym, I wish to myself that I were deaf. I can't play music in headphones loud enough to drown out the shit they play in there. The management doesn't care about my complaints. They said they're trying to attract a younger hiphop crowd.

But even if I could have them play music that I wanted to hear, I don't know what I'd pick. After turning myself over to Christ, I really can't listen to the death metal and thrash metal I used to listen to all the time. It's mostly about satanic crap and morally I just can't anymore.

I understand what you're talking about, something very similar happened to me. Some gym hostesses I trained controlled the sound in the gym. And imagine the sound these girls put on; "Funk BR !Sim é a fake Funk" where they only talk about sexuality and treat all women as sluts in the lyrics and still they like it. Lol Well, I listen to heavy metal at my home gym, but only on headphones so as not to disturb the family... You're right about heavy metal and thrash metal lyrics, they're pretty macabre... But that kind of sound seems give you more energy to train and courage to bear the heavy load.

Man did I crank my earphones up in the day; had to, to cover up that horrible gym music & annoying talkers. Hey pal, can you talk even louder on your phone conversation?!?

Understand about the satanic references, never cared for it & never really liked any bands that made them.

Planet Fitness has been the perfect gym at the perfect time for me (and my wife). Even the music is non-offensive & at reasonable levels.

Sincere congratulations on finding & embracing Christ.
