He mentioned a product called adapalane, and is topical and not systemic so apparently it had far less adverse reactions. He also said hey a quality face wash (something all natural higher end - gels tend to be more drying) and make sure you’re following up every time with a high quality moisturizer. The moisturizer is the most important because the body creates oil to deal with the dryness, if you keep your face hydrated, the oil will at least slow down (won’t make it perfect) but it’s an important part of your skin care regimen.
Also mentioned trying the retinol products first line (some are OTC and some are RX, like retina-a (again, stay out of target/Ralph’s and go to a nice med spa place) then there are some RX strength and he mentioned Tretinoin (I think that one may be branded adapalene.)
Also suggested grabbing an acme cream that has salicylic acid in it, again high quality. It also exfoliates as well. Last is benzoyl peroxides but they can be extremely drying and lots of cheap products out there containing it.
Also said that since you had luck on antibiotics, he recommended running them again but alongside your new face regimen. They may take a couple of weeks but to stay with it and make sure your pillow case is washed weekly with a sensitive cleaner.
He’s a board certified dermatologist and I used to call on his office back in the day. He’s a solid guy and a meathead (ahem, I mean TRT patient) so he gets it.
Obviously getting it second hand, he said it’s probably the oils and was wondering if it changed when you changed labs or gear?
All good for thought, but agreed that isotretinoin can be some really nasty shit.
Hope this helps brother and best of luck!
