    After about 50 minutes if cardio you stop buring fat and start burning muscle. "as much cadio as your schedule will allow" will very likely be overkill.

    He's already catabolic and excessive cardio will only make that worse.

    i hear ya, but for some context, with my personal schedule between work, commuting and lifting i can only get an hour of cardio in 4-5 times a week. eating a high protein, low calorie diet with that routine has allowed me to burn fat effectively while maintaining muscle. of course ive got anabolics helping with the process though
