Oh, wait.....I'm one of the hillbillies you mentioned earlier in the thread; that must be it.

Bwahahahaha, more afraid of a hillbilly. Some of the nicest people in the world and usually the first to help someone in need.

Anyway, y'all ramble on. I have a shitload of .8 mm holes to drill, then backfill with the laser welder so I can get this mold to preheat.

Gun legislation won't affect legit people...that's rich. They'll be the ones most affected because they're legit citizens.

You're taking what I said as a joke literally. I was talking about the stereotypical west virginia crazy dude who snaps and goes on a rampage. Plus I don't really consider people on this forum hillbillies, but if you consider yourself one, then my apologies.

I haven't been watching the news so I'm not sure what they're calling on, but I wouldn't agree with banning an entire platform cause I understand the idea behind being able to protect yourself - even though I know it wouldn't work against our government or whatever other end of times scenario has been described. Regardless, this forum is a microcosm of society and everyone has their opinions. I'm not a lawmaker or a politician, but if I was, I'd be willing to compromise and at least enforce the laws in a realistic way. Maybe things are enforced and some people just slip through, but this most recent one seems like a clear cut situation to me. That guy should not have been with those types of weapons. If I was the law, whoever sold him his guns and ammo should be doing 10-15. That's the only way we're gonna end these shootings or reduce them significantly.

Now you're talking some sense. We have laws in place....murder is murder. Back in the 80s early 90s, Local politicians and lawmakers/police start really cracking down on drunk driving. We had a bar that was REALLY popular. I think it might have been the first bar owner ever,,,,at least in this state, that was charged for a patron who was served way more drinks that they should have, left the bar, and killed someone. Guess what happened to the bar? Yup. Closed down, hit with law suits, and owner served time as well as the drunk driver that killed someone.

Now, there are laws and guidelines put in place regarding how many drinks a customer can be served. Guess who that targets....the drunk AND the bars. NOT the casual patron who knows they can only drink one drink in an hour or know they have to call uber to get home.

Again, I whole heartedly agree with gun regulations with regards to who can and can't own weapons. Personally, I believe if you're a responsible, sane person, you should be able to own a bazooka if you want, but lets enforce the laws we currently have to deter those who would break the laws and leave good people alone to have their "toys" and hobbies.

He was reported months ahead for unstable behavior. That is when it should have been addressed. That's where the ball was dropped. He was reported to LE and the Army. No action taken.

The family of the Army reservist accused of fatally shooting more than a dozen people in Lewiston, Maine, alerted police and military officials that he was experiencing an “acute” mental health episode before the Wednesday night massacre, his sister-in-law said.

Robert Card, 40, a firearms instructor and longtime member of the Army Reserve, began to hear voices that were saying “horrible” things about him a couple of months ago when he was fitted for high-powered hearing aids, said Katie Card, who is married to his brother.

“He was picking up voices that he had never heard,” she told NBC News. “His mind was twisting them around. He was humiliated by the things that he thought were being said.”

Katie Card said the family did their best to reassure Robert Card that the comments were not real, including by verifying with some of the people he claimed had made the remarks.

But, she said, “it turned into a manic belief.”

“He was just very set in his belief that everyone was against him all of a sudden,” she said.

Robert Card, who was still at large Thursday, is accused of killing at least 18 people and injuring many others at a bar and a bowling alley, police said.

No apology necessary, I was just f-in with you then. However, I am what many consider a hillbilly or redneck because I don't live in a city or town The nearest town has a sub-1200 population.

Most years we grow and can our own veggies, buy beef by the side, and any spare time I have us spent watching the farms of my neighbors ~ 1-1.5:miles away, helping them load cattle for sale, feeding the cattle and sheep when they're ill or if hey take the once in a blue moon vacation.

Just came to my mind while I was perusing your prose....

Re: In bold above. That's where you'll find common ground with a majority of the the Pro-2A crowd. When it was reported weeks ago by his own family that he was mentally unstable, there should have been a mechanism in place to address the mental illness and take precautions.
