From Cape...
"Ok I get it now. Leave nothing on Each and Every Set. Until listening and talking to Marcus I was notorious for not going to complete failure. I would already be thinking about the next set and wanting to leave something for that. That's bullshit if your a body builder. I see now you kill each set like its the last. There is nothing else but the set your doing. Nothing else. That one set. Give it everything. On the next set kill it and don't worry about not getting 10 reps. If you get 3 to failure you are working the muscle more than reping 10 out. Who cares? My shoulders are hurting like never before. This is hard to get your mind around but you have to. Other wise you are Maintaining muscle not Building muscle. I hope this is what you were trying to tell me Marcus. Thank you. I think you will see a noticeable change in the coming weeks months and years."
Outstanding Cape. You've diagnosed an inherent problem with bodybuilders. They always think they have to save some for the next set. It's especially true when guys do drops or supersets. They tend to hold back thinking of the upcoming set. Wrong, just wrong, a waste of time and unproductive to boot!
Marcus is helping a lot of people with this thread as it's hard to break the habits of a "bodybuilder."

We think big up north ;-)
Your right you have a direction to move towards now which is great news.
It's all about being focused and being mentally ready to put your body under this assault of extreme overload.once you learn how to go all out in your working set you won't have anything left to even do another set like it. I trained chest tonight and when I was doing db incline press on my working set I completed 7 reps and at the 7 th rep I was totally gone, I knew I was going fail around the 5th 6th or 7th and I managed to really push to total max at 7. On the 7th I had my partner help me wort 2 forced reps and on my last rep I was shaking from head to toe and it was impossible to even do another half rep. At this stage I did 2 negative which put me in pain all over my upper chest, it felt like hot rods being pushed through my chest. I didn't leave anything left in the tank and I recruited every muscle fibre. If anyone can do another rep either on their own or forced then they are not training to your max. You want big thick muscle bellies train with short heavy intense training and always to failure, watch yourself grow...
That'll fit Marcus... Maybe
^^^^^ Haha lmfao.
