does putting a dumbbell on a padded bench ruin the padding? (what football coach said, I don't play sports, he just runs the gym)

I don't mean slamming it down, I mean just placing one on a bench. I almost got kicked out of my schools gym my first day back over this shit. (cause W.O.W. has never said shit about it)

I was like "if I threw it at the bench YEH I'd prob mess the padding up but I laid it down like a civil person".

Hes like "don't put the weights on the bench, it ruins the padding". (almost ignoring what I said)

5mins later I leave it on the bench and walk away.
He comes back, takes it off the bench, and puts it 20ft across the room like hes trying to hide the fvcking dumbbell.

Him: "Than you leave".
That was it.
I was on the fence about doing it one more time just to make fun of him and get kicked out, but I wasn't in a real aggressive mood.
