Its been tough. My parents had 8 kids and 4 have passed on. My three older brothers have passed, so I am oldest male now and one of my younger sisters have all passed on. My oldest brother died serving a warrent on a meth house that was booby trapped. My 2nd oldest died in a farming accident. My twin died on 2 days before our b-day in a auto accident and same with my 2nd oldest sister.
I was lucky to have the parents I have. My father was an amazing man and my mother is saint any woman who can raise 8 kids is special.
My god that's awful. I don't know how I am gonna cope with my parents and siblings passing, probably the worst day of my life.I could not even imagine what you went through. I'm so so sorry for your losses. Hold your family close and never let the go, family is really the only thing that means anything anymore. Jobs and friends come and go but family is forever.Originally Posted by Hunter
We have a picture of all of us boys together, farming. When my father passed I leased out all our farm which was the hardest thing I have ever done. All I ever wanted was to farm, we had about 3200 acres of farm land and I leased out so my sisters would always have a steady income.
I loved farming we farmed potatos and sugar beets plus about 300 head of black angus cattle.
I still get to help with my extended family farming operation which I love.
I know how you feel, on my dads side in Illionois are farmers vineyard owners. I love farming and being in the out doors, I'm leaving San Diego July 1st of next year and moving to Illionois to spend the rest of my life helping my family and working with my hands. I can't wait, the rolling fields open sky and fresh air with no population around is just amazing and uplifting, city life is so much more stressful and unless to me at this point. I just want to be free
I understand 100 percent. I love farming, I still help harvest and plant. We have some of the most amazing farming land in the world. Where I live used to be a huge lake during the ice age so our dirt is so black and full of nutrients its amazing. We have no rocks nothing just miles and miles full of black rock free dirt.
I really liked the cattle side of farming but also really enjoyed the agricultural side as well. To give an idea of how big our farming operation was after my father died our auction took 4 days to complete.
Right now I live on our hunting property that I put up a house on so I actually live on 125 acres roughly. Both my kids have horses. I bought my wife an old swayed back mare as she never has been on a horse till we met. I have my rodeo horse from highschool still. We have 40 chickens right now and we will butcher 28 of them and leave the rest for eggs. We also have 3 pigs that will be butchered this fall as well.
I couldn't imagine living any where else then in the country. I work in the city and thats stressful enough.
Way way up north on the mn-nd border. I am very close to the canadian border. I probably live in one of the wildest places left in the continental united states.
if I hadnt met my wife I probably would have moved to the Alaska. I am like a Husky, I sweat like fat albert jumping rope in the attic if its over 74.
