...and as far as choosing which party you affiliate yourself with....look at the big picture and decide which groups and individuals carry similar morals and ideals as yourself.....

Here was my earlier thought on the subject....

I choose the Republican ticket mainly because it fits my way of logic moreso than the democrats. Unfortanutely, the people the democrats get to support them are what totally turns me off from the democratic ticket. I really don't think the democrats truly do anything for these people either. Here are a few:

    NAACP
    ACLU
    Jesse Jackson Rainbow Coalition
Dem's always try to get prisoners to vote
    85% of Hispanic populaiton
greater than 50% of the dem voting population has household income less than $75k
    Hillary Clinton
    Ted Kennedy
75% of all Lawyers nationwide vote democrat
    PETA
majority of college professors are democrat
90% of the African-American population votes democrat
...and...look at which states the dems win for presidential elections:
New York, New Jersey, California, etc.......

None of these people or groups of people are anything that I would ever consider be associated with.

I will be the first to say that the Republicans have some fuked up views as well.....but....like I said before....they fit closer to my life style than the dems.....

    Sin,

I believe that he was talking about the organizations not the races. Perhaps you should have taken humility 101 when you were being over-educated.

I did read it, he didn't clarify. The guy is not a racist, it wasn't a racist post it was a post about the organizations mentioned.

Why are you picking on my post is it because I'm white? It's because I'm white isn't it? Isn't it? You hate me because I'm white don't you? (joking)

Racism is not tolerated on this board, you misinterpreted his post.

organizations like clinton and kennedy? for some reason i didnt think they were organizations. he pointed out a number of reasons that he did not want to be associated with the dems specifically pointing out hispanics and blacks. btw why dont you get off his dick. if he has a problem with my replies to his post he can defend himself.

I just don't understand ttgb's point. Are you saying that you don't like a group because of who else likes them? So, you could like a band one day, but the next day at school you find out they are the fav band of the AV squad, so you don't like that band anymore?

    Am I getting that straight?

...no....I'm not singling out one group....I'm saying that when a political party consists of so many controversial groups together the way the democratic party does and the percentages are soooo lopsided......then it isn't right.......and I won't ever affiliate myself with such a group....

I do appreciate you asking your question nicely though....

thats the best one yet bro, when a political party consists of so many contraversial groups........ did you forget about the republican party? these are people who are involved with so many contraversial groups, they are just so secretive about them untill they come to light ie, enron corp, plus lets not forget that they are able to help a person who WASNT EVEN ELECTED PRESIDENT become president.

Seriously, you really need to get over the fact that Bush WAS elected president, and no matter how bad the gutwrenching feeling is, you can't simply just change laws that have been in effect for every other presidential election, INCLUDING ALL THE ONES YOU DEMS WON! I swear if Bush happens to lose this election, I'm screaming Kerry is a cheater....no matter what, I know someone like ex democratic mayor Daly of Chicago had something to do with it, AND IT WAS RIGGED!

Well if he meant the racist comments my apologies to all. It is hard for me to believe (although I know it's true) that someone could be so shallow and full of ignorance.

and those organazations mentioned are up-held mainly by the liberal democrats and not usually by the moderate democrats, that is the republicans biggest thing man when they are in a discussion like this they will always point out examples of extremity. Ok then i dont like to vote republican because eric rudolph is a republican and kills abortion doctors and because of that clown on the 700 club who said that jesus told him that bush would be re-elected(pat robertson).

thats great jeremy the fact of the matter is, more people voted for gore than bush, screw the electorial college and all of that more people voted for someone who is not in office, granted gore wasnt a much better choice but as far as foreign policy we would still be in a better situation if dubya hadnt stolen the office, funny it happened in jeb bushs state huh( just a coincedence Im sure). And thats great that after my post the right winger fundamentalists on this thread still called me a democrat, Im not a democrat Im independent. Any way, when Tom ridge raised the risk level a month ago he stated that terrorists will likely try to plan an attack because of the up-coming election, stating that the madrid bombings where done to sway the election and oust the current president come election day. Now doesnt that tell you enough that they obviosly hate the bush family...............why am I actually discussing this with close minded individuals? Im not going to even finish this one, If bush is re-elected Im moving.

    I guess you can't read.

He just said he's not a democrat. He's independant. Or do you automatically call anyone who is not republican a tree hugging liberal democrat.

Maybe Tom was referring to the Madrid bombings being done to sway the election and oust the current president because alll of the terrorists and enemies of the U.S. would rather deal with Kerry.......

I'm sure if it would have been the other way around, with Bush getting the "popular" vote, but with Gore winning the electoral vote, all the Dems would have felt bad and given the Presidency to Bush. Nope, my bet is if that same situation were to come up in another election, with the Grand Ole Party winning the popular vote and losing the electoral vote, the Dems will change their stance on that issue, to fit them...nothing unusual.

Since I'm on a political rant, I'll add this: It amazes me to no end for all the Democratic politicians to scream that they are looking out for the "little guy" and the middle class while hating big business and the rich, while THEY are part of the rich. When you think about it, you don't have to scratch your head very long to realize that they DON'T care about the little guy, or anyone else for that matter. If they care so much about the working middle class, then why do they raise taxes every **** time they get a chance? Of course more taxes means more government intervention (socialism) because there are a ton of lazy people who dropped out of high school who say they need "assistance". Why not ask John Kerry to just keep enough money to live on....say....$40,000 a year, like families that are struggling, and give the rest to the people that need it? I Don't think he would like that too much....and if I happened to find the American dream and make $1,000,000, I wouldn't want to be taxed out to gazoo either.

I do understand that there are people that go through rough times like losing their job and needing help to stay afloat....I have no problem with that. But constantly raising taxes on the people that actually "work for their money" in order to redistribute the wealth is not right.

    Carlos,

Independant is the new Democratic party. That's what they call themselves for two reasons. 1) They are ashamed to admit that they really are Democrats
    2) They can't even commit to a party, they have to have waffling on that issue too. Liberals are deathly afraid of committment of any kind. If they commit then they can't change their minds on the issues when it suits them!

Why is it a bad thing to not be commited to a party? It means you're a free thinker. Why would I want to be trapped into opinions on a myriad of issues?

Like Chris Rock says THINK FOR YOURSELVES!!! For example, I'm conservative when it comes to crime, but on prostitution, I'm liberal!!

Free thinking is fine but we each have choices to make in life that matter. The problem today is that there is no commitment or loyalty, everyone just does what they want when they want.

For every action there is a reaction. If you were to start on a journey and travel in a zig zag would you get there faster than someone who has walked in a straight line?

In my opinion that is why liberals don't ever get anywhere, they commit to an agenda and then something happens they change the agenda over and over. Making a commitment on any issue takes faith and confidence.
(why do I feel like I want to call you Grasshopper now?) So ends my opinion on libs.

If we were all the same it would be a boring place to live anyway. Remember the old saying "if you don't stand for anything, you will fall for everything"

I don't classify myself as a liberal - OR a conservative for that matter. If you feel I must commit to a party, please let me know which one I should choose.

    I'm pro-death penalty
    I'm pro-choice
    I'm anti-union
I believe prostitution should be legalized
I believe our drug laws should be relaxed.
I believe you should have to work to get welfare money
I believe there should be a universal healthcare system
I believe John Kerry is an idiot
I believe George W Bush is a bigger idot.

So, to which party should I commit?
