A lot of them are crossing over to the Air force to become PJ and CCT because it is not likely to see much action as a SEAL, so they cant be that few in number. Im not sure of the actual stats though.

that true, 2,000 isnt much compared to the entire military. I dont think there are millions though. something like 1.2-1.5 million. 2,000 is more than you would think as far as SEALs go.

If you want my advise dont say anything to anyone. once it gets around that you are going to be a SEAL, half the people will be rooting for you and the other half will be wanting you to fail.

a hint of how to act when you go for your training.
Do everything they tell you
dont ask questions
be the grey man
dont attract attention to your self, either by being the worst or the best.
Hide in the shaddows and you wont get too much bother. if your the best you wil always be expected to come out on top if you are the worst they will be pushing you to failure.

Use the Basic training as an example.
Its easy to excel at a specail forces course when you have had a hard basic course (Royal Marines 32week basic).
If you want a good training programme to follow that will prepare you for pretty much anything. i suggest looking how they train. its the hardest and longest basic training course for any NATO military force.

The best way is to say nothing, then 6 months after you have been in word will get around "hey did you know jim bob has gone to the SEALS" etc.

taking the ASVAB tomorrow. Im gonna see if i can get into the firefighting program. and after a month or so in the training in that, ill consider tryin out for the SEALs...like i said over and over..haha all i can do is see how it turns out...which will keep me busy for awhile...yeah ive only brought up the SEALs thing with my girl and parents. and you guys, but otherwise im not sayin anything. we shall see...
one thing im confused on is the pay...its like E-1 thru E-9?...im confused on the number...i know E is for enlist...well is the number when you plan to leave the service? I only plan on being in the navy for 2 years...unless i make SEALs and then ill make a career out of that. otherwise after 2 years in the service ill apply at several fire stations, and see where that turns out..hopefully the navy will prop me up there so i dont have to do runt work.

good luck to you 100k. but you sound like soooo many other wanttobees. take the asvab and you will see what jobs are offered. i was a 17yo run away when i joined the corps in 74.....changed my lfe...... and even 25 years later. i still live by its stanard. and as for firefighting....thats my trade, i retire in octobor....and i like your dotted eye....been years since i had one.....again good luck and make us proud

ya i was looking at the SEALs, the training sounds pretty basic, a normal cardio day....and also the most paid...i guess i should try out...

the training is much more than "basic" and unless you are 100% committed you will quit, probably during your first evening spent getting familiar with the temperature of the Pacific Ocean.
By the way didn't you make a comment on another post a week ago about people in the US military being a bunch of criminals?

i didnt say thhe whole military was criminals...and i dont kno how many times i have to say it, thanks for your opinion, but im still gonna try out...

thanks, i dont understand how i sound like a wannabee... im dedicated and committed to this, and i have a backup plan in the case that i do washout...its a 50/50 chance and ill try and make it....how do you like the fire fighting?

Try going EOD...they work with SEALs and some are attached to SEAL units.

Blah blah ill believe it when i see them facing a real enemy.

Anyways. You cant just sign a contract and go off to be a seal. Im not in the Navy but im pretty sure it works the same as SF and Ranger. You have to pick a regular job and sign a contract with that MOS as your main job. Going to Seal school will be listed as an option. Once you get threw basic you will most likely report to your unit and if you maintain an outstanding PT score and show your a squared away hard charger you may get the chance to go to Seal school. Now if you do get the chance you gotta remember what your reading on paper may look like a challenge but remember these things are 90% mental 10% physical. Anyone whos done soemthing like this will vouch for that. if you think the physical is hard wait till the mental hits you. Once you get there within the first few days your gonna be tired hungry and mentally drained. The effects of little food and sleep( most likely 3 hours a night if your lucky and 1 or 2 solid meals a day) while getting worked like a dog is something you can never fully prepare for. There gonna make sure you life is a living hell. They will get you wet just so you can freeze your balls off for the rest of the day. I been threw some tough schools. One in particular i went into weighing 210 and lean. When i came out i was 165 pounds and looked like i aged four years lol. And dont think the jobs that great either. You will not have much of a personal life. All you will breath and sleep is Seal. But on a plus side you will see and do things people dream about and chicks will dig you . In other you really have to have this in your heart before you try and get in.
