Generaly I drink in phases.
No real set routine.
When I want to drink, I drink.
Of course as I grow older the gaps in between drinking have become bigger and bigger.
Right now I'm on a dry spell and will probly be this way for sometime.
However, I also know what a hot sunny day out on a patio with some fun friends can do to me....Muwahaha!
So in awnser to your question...yeah, I do.
this thread just sounds like you feel bad for drinking and want to know other guys are doin the same thing...just do what you want man, why feel guilty for doing something that you chose to do. If you drink, then you drink its your body. If you dont then its whatever..
I have 40oz every now and then when i go out.... King Cobra style only $1.30
I cook with Wine.. does that count?
The alcohol evaporates................so no. What do you cook and what do you use?
drinking is legal, and does little to muscle growth if you only do it socially. i believe one night drinking will usually = one day lifting completely wasted. but as soon as i go running the next day i sweat out the alcohol, get some good protein and im back to normal.
there are some people who talk about alcohol like they dont know prohibitions over. but if your going out every single weekend and getting absolutey shitfaced i think thats overdoing it. if your only having 3 or 4 to unwind after a long week thats fine. drinking also makes women horny, and i like to be around horny women.
I do my share normally, but I've done pretty good to avoid it while cycling.
I heard as much that's why i never counted it as 'drinking' per se. I do count the cals tho.. as some sugar remains.Originally Posted by Prada

Depends on what i have or what flavour i'm trying to create.
Garlic dishes may have a ginger wine marinade... green vegetable stri-fries may have a red wine or VS/VSOP brandy splashed in. etc.

I Drank constantly from high school till i was about 30 with a few breaks in between. Always lifted and ran but partied on the weekends. I did a few cycles when i was younger....always ending because something happened when i was drinking. Even if im just lifting a lot i dont like to drink because i get to aggresive.
Well ill chime into this.. i drink bout 3 nights out of the week... just something i do to relieve stress.. don't think it really hurts my gains.. been like this for the last 3 yrs an im bigger and stronger than ever... but i do have a slight beer gut or pizza gut......

i heard wine is good for your liver n your heart, depending on what it is, but then, would that fall into the category of "estrogen buildup due to alcohol??"
I have read that little bit of red wine like a glass a night before bed is good for you as far as your health goes but I don't see how it could aid in bodybuidling and at the same time I know very few people who only drink a "small" amount that would be considered healthy. It may start with one glass each night but then work its way up. I guess alot of it has to do with genetics and my family has had past issues with drinking soo I tend to just avoid it all together.Originally Posted by boxingbean
You drank in 8th grade? That means you were around 12-13? You started drinking that young???Originally Posted by boxingbean

Drinking in the 8th grade isn't all that uncommon as it sounds. I remember going to Disney World in the 7th grade on a field trip and everyone being drunk off their ass.Originally Posted by Carlos_E

It really is disturbing especially looking at it from your standpoint. You didn't drink any alcohol until you were 29? damn. Did you live a sheltered life or was it just a personal decision?Originally Posted by Carlos_E
I grew up in a very religious family. My parents don't drink or smoke and neither was allow in the house. They didn't drink, I saw no reason to. I left for college at 16 and in college I thought it made people look stupid and smell bad. It had no appeal to me. The reason I drank at 29 was "just case" I never had. I'm 37 now and it still does not appeal to me so I don't drink.Originally Posted by MrMeathead

I wish I was brought up that way. My family has always had problems with alcohol and with me being a college student now it is everywhere. Somehow I manage to avoid it though. Seeing results in the gym feels much better to me than a buzz off alcohol.Originally Posted by Carlos_E

I agree. There was no point.. My roommate threw a birthday party for me and we got really drunk and I ended up sleeping with my straight roommate. No good came out of that incident let me tell you.Originally Posted by boxingbean

I don't drink anymore i did enough of that when i was in the army.for me one glass leads to more..lol
I have never been drunk in my life, I'm 33. I just never could understand people getting "wasted". I hate beer, nastiest shlt ever invented. I think I'm the only person that doesn't get drunk. It's cool to hook up w/ the ladies that are "feeling good" (never hit on drunk girls though, that's just jacked up when guys mess w/ wasted women, opens up the door to legal trouble that will bite you in the ass)
I posted my response before I read yours', but knew I couldn't be the only person that doesn't get the whole "fuked up" thing ( I am also liscensed concealed carry & don't need any legal trouble, you get a bunch of drunk "frat" boys together & a body builder just "kicking it" w/ a girl and the trouble always seems to pop up.Originally Posted by Carlos_E
wtf? can't just go out w/o some fuking drunk punks messing it up.)

I drink consistantly every weekend... im natural, so I dont cycle... one more year of college and the partying will slow down... When I want to meet strict weightlifting goals, however, I stop the drinking.... but for the most part, Im happy with my balance of weightlifting and my ability to party it up with my friends
I agree. Beer is nasty. Smells horrible and tastes even worse.Originally Posted by goodcents

Ya, I do a lot of things that don't involve alcohol... and I'm out of the stage of calling up people "to go drink," but it just seems I end up drinking on the weekends socially and regularly... I dont get shitfaced even close to every weekend and wake up every morning just fine...Originally Posted by Carlos_E
If it interupted my goals (whether it be life goals, school goals, or weightlifting goals) I would stop...
For instance, my best friend is getting married in alittle over two months and Im standing up as Best Man... Its events like these (that and the bachelor party the weekend before) that I like to show up looking my best, so I will set a no drinking or cheat meal goal probably within the next week or so, because something like this is more important that going out drinking....
