Actually the odds are even more against dying that way, he ran alot bigger risks just being on the boat than with the stingrays. Ps the pics are fake!

He caught alot of shit for that, but you would have to understand the way he was brought up with animals ( I know it was not bright, just offering another view) I didn't like when he went to america and had his pregnant wife messing with rattle snakes, but hell he was only human. Who the fuk are we to judge, I never met him but still think he was a hell of a man. Walk in another mans' shoes before we can judge him

You need to look into that specific event instead of believing what the paper told you.

They had a whole show over that incident, truth is that they did'nt tell you that Irwin had messed with that crocodile (fed it etc) for an hour or so before he took that pic with his baby and was in no danger whatsoever.

The way I see it, this guy has 3 kids at home (I think?) and now those 3 children are father-less because their dad decided to swim next to DEADLY STINGRAYS! If he had to go to Iraq for example, he would die serving his country and something worth fighting for. But now he died to what, get a picture close to a stingray for a TV show and left his children without a father?
there has been about 17 deaths ever related to sting rays...

WOW some people are really ****ing ignorant.

The man died doing what he loved! He educated millions of people who feared these beautiful animals and potentially saved countless human lives and the lives of the animals.

Yes...he was. But the chances of getting killer by a stingray are almost non-existant. There have been people killed playing football (along with MANY other unlikely things).....would consider that "deadly"??

I was just talking about this with my wife today. The man died doing what he loved! He showed the world many things they might never have known if it wasn't for him.

Steve dies well before his time. He did alot of good for animal + environmental awareness.

The whole Crocidile Hunter thing was for ratings. He did it for viewers, and entertainment purposes. He raised TONS of money for charities. Also, if anyone has read one of his 10 environmental reports, you would know that he is actually a very intelligent person.

For one, Steve Irwin has done a shit load more then a "soldier" in Iraq. He has started up wildlife organizations, preservation programs, and has donated thousands of dollars (perhaps millions?) to wildlife charities. Now do not flame on me for saying he did more then a soldier, I was just retorting to what that guy said a few posts back. I love our soldiers, and I do not think we should even be over there but still... Back to the point. Steve Irwin was doing what he loved, and he died doing it. He died when he was shooting a series for his daughter Bindi. He wasn't crazy, he knew what he was doing... And he was good at it... Is a construction worker who falls off a building and dies an asshole for doing something potentially dangerous leaving behind his family? No... So you cannot say that unless you wish to add that little part in there too. Steve Irwin was a great man, he did great things, maybe he didn't fight for his country... That doesn't make him any less then someone who has, or make his death more meaningless then someone who has died a war... So stop flaming on him guys, he's more man then any of us could ever wish to be...

I guess its a much more worthy cause to fight for bush and blairs lies than it is to fight for life on this planet.

I dont think anyone should be called a idiot for doing what they love. Is it better to live a boring and safe life?
I dont think his kids would miss him any less if he dies from a suicide bomber in iraq.

I'm not exactly all for the war either. but to ME being a soilder is a bit more admirable than an animal chaser. i'm not calling him an idiot for his career im calling him an idiot for putting himself in danger next to deadly animals although they may not seem as deadly as i see them. im also a pussy when i comes to animals, if i see a snake i'll piss myself. so that dosnt help much when i look at him
