Although I dislike our POTUS and VPOTUS and disagree with the largely falsified reasons for invading Iraq, as a Gulf vet with lots of buds in the special ops community over there now, I hope we get the country relatively stabilized (100% may be unattainable) with the Iraqis able to govern themselves. My friends have their complaints, but all are enjoying themselves doing what they were trained to do. To a man, they all say they want to stay and get things sorted out as best they can before pulling out. And in complete honesty, I wish I were over there with them.

Well, that's not entirely fair Murilo, because several of them re-upped after a tour or multiple tours. They had a choice to get out and go make some serious $$$ working for the PMCs, which some did. Bottom line is, they love what they do and they're happy. Most guys at the higher end of the spectrum could care less whether or not the "war" is a lie. They're like pit bulls, happiest when fighting. Keep in mind that I'm talking about guys who are professional warriors and not the "I didn't sign up for this" type of guy. Just my opinion, but anyone who joins the military without knowing what the military does is naive.
I definitely agree w/ you on the whole "Our government is fvcked. Cheney is a POS". No argument there, but I'll diverge on the military side of things.
“I consider myself blessed with the best things a man could hope for. My childhood is something I’ll always treasure. My family is the reason I’m the person I am today. They supported and cared for me in the best way possible.”
“The Navy, although I sacrificed personal freedom and many other things, I got just as much as I gave. My time in the Teams was special. For all the times I was cold, wet, tired, sore, scared, hungry and angry, I had a blast. The bad was balanced equally with the good.”
“All the times spent in the company of my teammates was when I felt the closest to the men I had the privilege to work with. I loved being a SEAL. If I died doing something for the Teams, then I died doing what made me happy. Very few people have the luxury of that.”

Another history buffWhen lincoln was getting his ass handed to him then he becomes the great freer of men
He reminds me of bush, first he declares himself dictator (sp?) declares war for one cause and then pops up another cause when that one didn't fly. History hides the lies

Yeah man I am a history nut, I have a pretty nice home library of books. It makes it so easy to talk about modern day politics and world events if you have a firm grasp of history. You can almost tell the future if you know the past. Because practically everyone forgets history and most seem that it has no relevance to today.
This is one of my favorite quotes about history.
"History is a vast early warning system."
Norman Cousins
