This has run it's course.
In my opinion, if someone wants to buy a house out in the middle of a piece of property, and they live there alone, they should have the right to remove anything they want. Hell they can sleep on cans of gas for all I care. But if someone lives in a multi-person environment, they have a moral obligation to leave all safety devices in place. No one has the right to choose for someone else whether or not they will be protected.
