Man that forearm pic is just nasssssssty!!
Good stuff G!
Did the early weigh in tonight and came in @ 186.9. Looks like my estimate of 185lbs on stage should be pretty close by morning. Still shot pictures not showing a huge difference in condition but the in person condition is much more grainy and tight looking. Huge class and I am giving away quite a bit of weight to many of them. We will see how things turn out soon enough.
Looking good. Cant wait to see the show in about 8 hrs. Good luck.
damn fireguy! im jealous, good luck bro
Wow Fireguy .... looking good ..... best of luck in the comp!!!
Couple update pics from this morning prior to heading to prejudging. 2nd pic is of MrsFire, she is sitting at 123lbs this morning and looking to do some damage in the Open Lightweight Class. I was 186.2 prior to taking in a bit of oatmeal this morning.
Good luck my man, to the both of you. You two are TRUE inspirations !!!!!!

^^Thanks my friend.
Deep breath bro. You got this! Very well done!
FG just came across this thread, you both look really fantastic...wishing you all the best on the stage!!
you guys are lookin awesome! I'm pullin for yah mate! can't ait to see how yah do.....
~Haz~
Best of luck to the both of you. You guys look awesome!!!
Awesome show (my first) and a lot of impressive looking people on stage.
The pictures do not do him or his wife justice. He is a lot bigger in person and looks great. Speaking of looking great if I had a face like yours I wouldn't be hiding it. (said in a non gay way) lol
The couples routing was excellent and IMO the best one, well thought out, choreographed very well and they are a good match together. Mrs Fireguy definatly stood out amongst the group not only due to size, form and striking looks but in overall showman ship. She really looks good, again the pictures on here do not do her justice..
The only thing that weirded me out was the tans. I had NO idea they tan you that dark. LOL Looks great on stage but face to face it looks like someone got stuck in a spray booth to long. LOL I have to admit it kept distracting me while trying to socialize.
Hope to see you again soon and good luck next week.
Thanks man, it was great to meet you and your wife yesterday as well. Yes, the tan always throws people when they first see it. You dont look anywhere near that dark on stage. So glad you were able to make it.
Recap of the evening. I took 7th place in the Over 40 Heavyweight Division, 11 guys in my class. I was extremely pleased with my conditioning but with the weight limits set at 176 to divide to Lights from Heavies it makes it really tough for me. No way I can get under 176 and at 187 I was standing against several guys well over 220lbs. Too much muscle for me to overcome. But like I said, this is a huge show with people flying in from all over the country to compete in it. I am posting a pic of the Class Winner from 2010, this will give you an idea of the size discrepancy I am speaking about, not fun standing next to 240lbs of that!
MrsFire took 2nd place again (8 in her class) ARRRGGHHHH and the gal that beat her went on win the overall title just like last year. She also finished Top 5 at the USA Championships a couple years ago and is a National Caliber Competitor for sure, so no shame in finishing 2nd to her, plus MrsFire gave her all she could handle and took her out in a few poses. MrsFire was actually a bit better conditioned than this other gal but just needed a few more pounds of muscle to hang with her.
Mixed Pairs, we took 2nd (6 Couples Entered). Our routine was kickin and the couple that beat us was the same woman that one the Lightweight Class and her Husband who was also competing in the Open Heavies. Overall it was a fun night, got in some major calories after the show and right back into carb depletion for the next 3 days and we start our prep for next weekend.
More pics to come.
Congrats to both of you on your placing. Considering the wieght break being 176 and you only being 187 in a class going well above 220 the cards were definately stacked against you. As far as Mrs Fire she was really in super condition, absolutely amazing...would have loved to have seen the show but my vocal chords are glad I was not there.
The couples competition must have really been a lot of fun. It sounds like a great way for a couple who live and train 7/24 to be able complement each other on the stage and must have really been rewarding.
Thanks for the posts and enjoy eating again ;-)
Congrats to the both of you. There's no shame in placing 2nd, 7th, whatever - you're putting yourself out there which is more than most people here are doing. Sucks about the way the weight was divided; kind of impossible for you to win really.
Let me know if you guys ever make it to NY for a show, i'll be there!
Congrats !! Great job for taking on a tough show !!!

Feel no shame at all, I knew what I was getting myself into and have no complaints.
Thanks again man, it was a handful!
3rd one in from the left, I might have been giving up size but didnt see anyone else with hams split or glutes feathered to the degree I had.
Will post more as I get them.
DUUUUDE! u looked dam good! you should be happy with your placing, would like to see comparison shots too. its unfair somtimes when judges take size over conditioning. much resepct brother
Yall both are very impressive. Congrats and goodluck on the upcoming show
your legs look 100 times better then everyone elses. they all look kinda soft, your look lean and dry with great definition. great job and very inspiring!!!
jeez..... u guys would look ridiculous walkin down the beach together LOL!
Is the weightclass always split like that or was it just this show? Are there any plans to bulk up and try to come in heavier? Where does FG go from here?
Mrs. FG will grab that #1 soon enough...... just gotta keep at it. It's going to make that #1 placing all the better!
~Haz~
Yes, very pleased with what I was able to bring to the stage. Conditioning to me should always be the priority but you cant discount size either. These classes gotta be tough for the judges when you have 40-50lbs differences in weights amongst competitors.
Thanks,we are really looking forward to this weekend.
Thanks, I must say this was the best dryout I was ever able to get. It was hotter than hell on stage and the judges worked our tails off. Not a drop of sweat rolled off me where normally I would be covered in it.
Thanks guys.
You both look amazing. The only weak part im noticing are your arms. Im no judge though.
Are you competing next year?
Spot on observation Bigd, my arms are definately a weakness. They are a good 18 1/2 inches off season @ 215lbs but could definately use more size. I can improve upon them but they will never be my strong point. (of all the bodyparts to be shorted in and I get arms!)
I did 2 shows in 2008, 1 in 2009, 2 in 2010 and doing 2 here in 2011. I am not sure what my plan is for 2012 at the moment. Want to get next weekend taken care of then will assess. As of right now I am thinking I have 363 days til I make another run at this one.
How big are your arms on contest day? Just looking at your avi pic, your shoulders and chest just completely overpower your arm. Besides that your perfect(no homo).
You piqued my curiosity, just measured them cold @ 17 3/8th. My shoulders arent bad but trust me I would use some more medial delt too.
It might just be the poses that you are doing
FG, not a criticizem(sp) but why are your abs so ?Flat? you are so lean and your obliques are there but your abs look flat. Again I think that you and the wife look F**n great. Just wondering
^^Its simply because I vacuum my abs in almost all of my poses except for abs/thigh pose.
And you conditioning looks a lot better than the other competitors. Very lean.
Thats what I thought. Look amazing my man and keep it up. Congrats on the contest. I know it takes a lot especially as we get up there in age.
I bet it was exciting to be on the stage again especially with your wife you adore!
Thanks for the update. You both look like 2 pieces of sculpture to me~
i love the avy man its awesome haha. congrats to you and your wife on the placing
Great Job, FG. Dedication truly shows through! And, Mrs. FG as well, of course.
You got another one this weekend, right?
Congrats bro, you looked very solid. Must be amazing to have a women like that to share that journey with.
WOW great thread here bro. You and your wife look amazing. Much respect to the both of you. Did you turn her onto bbing or did you guys meet at a show? Gonna say you met in the community somehow cuz I would think it would be hard to turn someone onto bbing, especially a female (as they usually are not concerned with muscle mass).
Odd question, what do you do in between shows looking so oddly tan? I mean it's clearly not a regular tan but a super spray tan.
Thank you.
Thanks, we worked our tails off for these two shows!
Yes sir, on stage again 52 hours.....
Couldnt do it without her.
Yes, I first saw her competing about 10 years ago, she was doing Figure then. Same hobby, lots of mutual friends we eventually met up and have been together since our first date 4 years ago. After she did the USA Championships in Figure in 2008 (finished top 15) the judges told her she would basically have to stop weight training to go any higher as she carried a bit too much muscle. It was then we decided to give bodybuilding a run. She enjoys it much better and finds it 10x more challenging. The off season tan was simply Melanotan, first time I have ever used the stuff and I must say it will turn you as dark as you want to get without any UV exposure.
