Watching Will & Grace is what made me gay. Plus, owning all the seasons of Queer as Folk on DVD totally made me gay. I also love interior design and seriously want to get into fashion design. Love shopping, especially when we are looking at shoes and handbags. Gay gay gay. I started going to gay bars and clubs with my older gay friends when I was 18. We would all get drunk, have a great time and I would end up sleeping in the same bed with gay guys rather than drive home. Sooooooo gay.

Oh wait, I did and enjoyed all those things and I am NOT gay. Strange.

Amcon believes that it is environmental. I have had discussions with him about abortion and evolution in the past as well. He is a good guy, and his view is very Christian. And by that I mean unwavering.

You know i tried to find some rhyme or reason to explain why I am gay but it is what it is. I knew it way back before puberty. I just didn't understand it or what it was called. Once I reached puberty the rest was history. At an early age everyone, Ok Most experiment with others and theirselves, boys with thier boyhood buds, and girls with their girl friends. Most of them move on as in a phase. My phase never left. I liked it too much. I was never molested or any of the other stuff they try to label us with, or explain away their ideas of why we are why we are. Well here is a good reason for gays, population control. Yes maybe it's natures way of trying to limit our population. It's as good a reason as any. It's too bad there is such a stigma to sexuality at all.

There is no such thing as a bisexual? Unfruknbelivable and you condemn the religious right for being narrow minded.

Then maybe you simply have another name for someone who is attracted to both the male and the female physique and even personality? Because you really can't be so naive as to believe that these people do not exist.

I dont think being gay or straight is a choice or environmental for most people. I do think a small percentage of people end up one way or the other due to circumstances. Sorry if I offended anyone with this thread I just wanted some positive discussion to answer the questions in my head that I never say out loud.

I hope people dont get offended. You asked logical questions from your views on society and gave people the opportunity to respond. How people choose to respond is their problem and usually shows their character

The saying is "pull your head out your @$$." Clearly from what you write you are the one confused. I will agree to disagree with you on this topic.

I think that is one of the best and intelligent answers so far.

Ive always said i am a lesbian caught in a mans body. They still wont let me use the woman's locker rooms.

Ofcourse being gay is at least part environmental.
I asked a friend 20 years ago on South Beach why he was Gay. He said he didn´t know if he was or not, he was just experimenting.

I remember not understanding. I have experimented with a lot in my life, but I could never experiment with being with a Man.

It was definitely cool to be Gay on South Beach back then. Tons of Gay clubs, Gay´s everywhere. They were sharply dressed, in good shape, had money, and had more fun than the average straight guy. At least that´s how it appeared.
I was an entrepreneur back the as now, and remember discussing targeting the Gay community, where the money is.

As I got to know more people, I found more men being drawn to the Gay lifestyle, and living as Gay without being "Biological Gay".

So then what would be my environmental motivation?
Lets see what being gay gave me when i was young:
    1) Fear
    2) Confusion
    3) Loneliness (i didn't know one gay person growing up)
    4) Need for acceptance
    5) Depression

Oh my god, looking back on it now i totally see your point. I never really listed all the benefits of being gay. Filer i want to thank you for showing me the light.

Hmm....I don´t understand what you mean.
Do you have a problem with environmentally gay men?
From your sarcasm, I assume you disagree with the term "Environmentally Gay", sound like it even offends you. I´m wondering why.
Jail is an environment, so is Afghanistan, so was South Beach in the 90´s, San Fran in the 70´s. All resulting in increased Homosexuality.

You are obviously born with the "Gay gene". So was my Nephew. Experiencing all the emotions you are listing in addition to suicide attempt.

But again, I don´t understand you point

No it is not. Just because a guy goes to jail and ****s another guy in the @$$ doesn't make him a homosexual. It just makes him a guy that needs to put his dick into something warm and cum. When he leaves jail he will just go right back to having relations with women. A homosexual is a guy who loves another man. Its not just physical but emotional. That's what people don't understand.

    Ah...I see.
What I really meant was....at least some gays are gay because of the environment they are in or grew up in. Others are gay for being born that way.
    I know both kinds.

I hear you on the jail. I too like to put my dick into warm stuff....but I strongly doubt I could ever go there, even after 20 years in jail.

So what's the general consensus... Are people born gay; or is it a choice they make either consciously or subconsciously? (I have no opinion on this)

They are born that way. That doesn't mean some people might chose to sleep with men because they think its cool but the majority is born this way. I have said before on these forums there were times in my life where if i could have turned being gay off i would have. A gay life isn't an easy life. Even today i struggle with telling people at work in fear it might hurt my career. As you can see in my signature i am a realist. I know there are still plenty of @$$holes out there that would hold me back just because of my sexual preference.

This is the first sentence of the definition of Homosexual from wiki " Homosexuality is romantic or sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender." Key work being romantic which means love. If you can love another man then in my eyes you are homosexual.

When people ask me when i knew i was gay/bi i ask them this question back "When did you know you were straight?" When i ask this question people look at me like a deer in headlights. They then shrug their shoulders and say i just kinda always knew. It was the same for me.
LOL!...I had to pause and think, and I´m sure I looked like a deer...

In the workplace wether it is finance/fashion/hollywood/travel/nightlife it will be disadvantages but also advantages to being Gay. Select your arena accordingly, life is too short.
