I'd wait until you speak to the housing authority and/or a lawyer before you say/do anything.

It sounds like she's trying to extort money from your parents. You might want to find another place to live. Doing business with those type of people isn't the best thing to do.
He said he is moving in a few months. If your lease says water is included as long as you don't admit there was ever a problem they will have a hard time.
If it comes down to it an attorney for eviction is pretty cheap

I've dealt with a similar thing before. He's just trying to scare you into leaving. I really doubt he wants to pay for court costs. And, if he were to take you to court, the process is so long that I'm sure you would have moved out by then. F****ing slumlords. Someone should really crack down on them for taking advantage of kids.

Anyway, you should speak to a lawyer since landlord/tenet laws vary state to state. Many of them offer free consultations and will give advice. IMHO, the landlord is just trying to scare you into leaving and breaking your lease.

Did you keep the phony eviction letter? That might be of some use as proof as harassment.

Update: No news at all. She was full of sh-t once again. Ill be moving out at the end of August. She basically already told me that I wasnt getting my security deposit back because of a crack in the plastic shower wall. A shower wall that is directly exposed to the outside of the building...LOL. I can literally see sun light through it and during winter I can see ice on it.

I plan on stiffing her my last 2-3 months here in order to deal with my security deposit.

not a good idea.... take pic, or leave and refuse to pay due to unsafe conditions like you noted..

otherwise you will be the one on the other end of the court fees and attorney fees..

Correct. You can dispute the damages and perhaps get your deposit back if you can prove that the damage was beyond your control or normal wear and tear. You'll lose hands down if you withhold rent. Not recommended.
