[QUOTE=Rwy;6428413]I dont know you CDP but I have seen a number of threads stating you have a drinking problem and then a day later you are talking about drinking. There are threads that clearly show you are intoxicated. I gotta assume posting on here is a way to reach out but its reaching out to the wrong group of people.

I am not sure what I am at this point. Alcohol lead to coke coke lead to unprotected sex with some random girl I met out in NYC. For awhile it was kinda fun or so I thought. Then you wake up feeling like a train hit you. I probably smoked 40 cigarettes. I am washing my brajol in rubbing alcohol. It got to the point every time I go out and drink if I dont have coke I get super sloppy wasted falling all over myself and asking complete stranger for drugs to sober me up.

I went to a couple of AA meetings but they were not for me. Over the summer at my brothers engagement party I tried to fight my brothers future father in laws best friend for telling me I was a queer because I had boat shoes on.

I gotta admit some of those boat shoes are pretty GAY! Just sayin...

When I was younger I was the same way, Drinking = Coke. Had to just give up drinking totally.

I use to have this weird thing happen to me when I drank... I would end up buying a ton of drugs, shoot em up, black out then either wake up in a jail cell, back behind a building, in a crackhouse or in a totally different city entirely. I kept that up for about a year. Then i was actually homeless in DC for about 6 months. I can say now I have been clean for just over 18 months and I have never felt better. The only thing that got me clean were going to meetings and talking about shit with people who knew exactly where I have been and what i was feelin. Meetings are not for everyone, but I praise them and would either be in a jail, mental institute/rehab or dead if I hadn't gotten cleaned up. There are people who have white knuckled it, but I prefer the support I get from others in meetings. You gotta want it though man. Good Luck brother.

Wow obviously if you read my post you would see I agree with this one. As far as AA, yep it's not for everyone, however everyone who tried and stayed and thoroughly follow their path had some success stories. It doesn hurt to give it a try, a good honest try. It is free, no names taken, no commitment to anyone but yourself if you chose. Everyone there has gone through the problems, different particulars. wreckage of home, cars, family, bank accounts , jail, prison, incomprehensible demoralization at its least. Regrets and more. So I suggest again, go and try, a good try, what do you have to loose. A night, and hour. hell you spent time locked up. I'd rather be at an AA meeting with new friends. They know what to do, most here don't. Gotta start now not later. NOW !!! ...I'll get off it now, but I do want to see ya succeed. One more, I was never locked up with out having been drinking and or drvging....crazy mike

CDP, I come from a LONG LINE of drunks. My Grandfather died in a car crash, my uncle and him were drinking and out running the streets. My uncle hit a telephone pole and killed grandpa. Now my uncle has to deal with that every day of his life. He doesnt drink anymore tho so I guess that is 1 good thing that came of it. He did do some prison time for that and then again for getting caught driving with out a license multiple times. He is a really good guy who will help anyone and has been out of prison of prob 12 years or so.

My dad on the other hand is the classic case of moron. Dont get me wrong I love the guy but he has LOTS of issues. He has been a addict for my entire life. In and out of jail and hospital multiple times, so many I cant count. Matter of fact he sits there waiting of trail right now.

When I was a kid I cant count how many weekends he would not even call to say he was not gonna make it. He left town to stay out of jail for child support when i was 7-8. We were close when I was a teen because he would show up on most weekends to pick me up. He was with a new woman who really had him in check back then. They married and (she is one tough cookie)still are to this day. I had to move in with him my senior year bc I got in trouble in school and I saw how much of a selfish person he was. I moved out in less than 3 weeks and went to stay with his brother who got me on track. About 5 years ago dad was in a bad motorcycle wreck(drunk AGAIN) that almost killed him. He walked the straight and narrow for about a year but then started hanging with the old FRIENDS. Well he can barely walk on his own now, cant work, and is basically a miserable person. Abusive (verbally) to his wife and my sister. So she finally decided she had enough one night a few months back and told him, well he got the gun out and told her he would make it a murder suicide and fired a shot off. She ran out and called the cops. So now he waits for trial.Funny thing is Im actually HAPPY for HER that she does not have deal with it anymore.

I have delt with my own battles with the bottle in the past and just one day decided that I wanted to be there for my kids even tho they were not anywhere near being born. Now I have 3 kids of my own and couldnt imagine a day without them much less going months or years.

I guess what Im saying is you will only fix it if YOU want to. I know you say you do but then again so does my dad. Please do us all a favor and get it under control before you hurt yourself or someone else. I really hope you get it straight man.

Unfortunately, self-will is not the answer. If it were, everyone with an addiction problem would get sober. In most cases the individual must reach his or her bottom with no other place to turn before they seek help. This is often referred to as "a moment of clarity" if you will. A realization that your life is in shambles and all you're doing is repeating the same behavior again & again. There are some people that may never reach this bottom though. For them life becomes a trail of jail, institutions and/or death. At best, a life full of mediocrity & missed opportunities...

Self will isn't going to work. An addict will choose liquor over love, food, family... everything. If not a 12-step program then you must seek help from others in another way. I'm currently in Al-Anon, dealing with my issues with alcoholics. My ex chose alcohol and self-destruction over "us." If you can't do it for yourself, do it for the people whose lives you have destroyed.

Definitely most. I would say 99.9999%. Cleaning up by yourself from an addiction is some tough shit. I wouldn't have lasted 24 hours trying to get clean by myself... I tried many times.

I had noticed, but thought it was just a skewed perception from not really knowing him.

FWIW, he posted this thread just before 1am... He may well be in custody.

My guess is CDP posted that in the back of the cop car. He could potentially be in jail atm.

    Why else wouldn't he respond?

I quit........ all I had to do was look at myself to know what was wrong. I dumped a lot of my friends and started working out religiously again, now my dreams are all coming true.

Me too I was on a bad path when I was younger and I moved away, straightened up, kept busy and now I wouldn't change it for the world. I had a lot of insecurities I needed to work on to feel better about myself.

Where ever he is i hope god is showing him the guidance and all the courage he needs to get him through this tough time.

I have faced many addictions in my life, i wont go into detail cause already there are stories here that can be refelected on for help, and cherry is a big boy if he encouragment he is more than welcome to PM me!

Off the record also, I have put my parents threw absolute hell and back . Nothing hurts me more when my own father years ago when i was at rock bottom and this tears me up alot inside, feels like someone has ripped my heart out of my body, "You have been a major let down to me, a failure" to hear these words come out of my own flesh and blood is gut wrenching, these words will haunt me for the rest of my day. Main reason why i think he said this to me, i was a very athletic person i could of been anything if i put my mind to it, which ever sport.

I will not be surprised if my karma comes back around to me IF i have kids also.

It truly is one of the toughest battles to combat addiction, but if one can find the light, pain and suffering will no longer exist, and your eyes will open up to what life truly has to offer.

CDP still hasn't posted anything since this.

If he's been in this long, makes you wonder how many times he's been busted for DUI, assuming that's what's going on?

Im not sure this guy said that. I kinda remember this interview with the news reporter. IIRC, he's a dude that hit another dude over the head with a hatchet for recklessly driving and almost running over some people, or something to that effect.

I agree Jimmy and it was very ironic I had suggested this to him just days before this! I absolutly despise OUT patient treatment programs for addicts! To much risk to go to a meeting and get drunk or stoned before you get back home!

Detox is needed before the addiction can be adressed! I hope he is getting the help he needs!
