There are several versus in the Quran that instruct to kill non-believers. The versus aren't subtle but are rather point blank. Those that kill in the name of their faith are doing exactly what their religious beliefs dictate them to do. For that reason, it really shouldn't be all that surprising.
Does this mean all muslims want to kill every last non-muslim on the planet? No, no more than it means every christian does everything the bible directs them to do. However, there isn't a problem with christians killing and terrorizing the world. Yes, someone may point out the crusades that happened long ago and that behavior doesn't justify this behavior, but we're not talking about the past, we're talking about the present.
Just as big of a problem IMO are the countless muslims who say they are against this violence yet do nothing and do not lift a finger. Show me the voice in the muslim community that's fighting against this?
A few examples, a few of many, these are just some short ones:
Quran (17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction."
Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"
Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."
Quran (9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace..."
Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."
Bukhari (52:220) - Allah's Apostle said... 'I have been made victorious with terror'

actually the sunni/shiite "thing" is pretty much widespread nowadays in the whole region...at least where there are shiites, you will find the tension with the sunnis... you have Shiites in Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, of course Iran, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait and even in KSA...then there are some in A'stan, Pakistan etc...
this goes way back to an issue as to who was supposed to be the successor of their prophet...to put it simply: those who are today Shiites wanted a guy, Sunnis wanted another...the Shiite guy was murdered and this is what started the rift... this was dormant for some time until very recently (around 2005 or so) when it was awakened as some kind of a line of defense against Iranian growing power in the middle east.
As for the Israel thing...well, IMHO its the biggest joke ever...ALL "arab" countries have dealt with or are still dealing with Israel both over and under the table...Qatar had an Israeli embassy at one time...Egypt and Jordan as well...Syria kept the Golan heights pretty calm ever since they were occupied by IDF troops in the 70s...hell even Hezbollah has dealt with Israel at one time....in 89 there was a war between Hezbola and Amal (two shiite factions one backed by Iran and one by Syria...Amal were gaining ground and had the hezeb pinned down so IDF troops allowed Hezbollah to pass through the lands occupied by them in order to escape) to its a huge masquerade if you ask me. Israel is used by most arab leaders as a way to control the people who are kept in check with this "scarecrow"... you see there is no such thing as democracy in the arab world...monarchies and tyranies...so best way to keep the people subjected and subdued is to use the Israeli threat...
Israel on the other hand does the same...it gets funds and support from USA by using the Hezbollah scarecrow..."i am fighting terrorists please help me"... at one time, we were helped by Israel back when we were fighting palestinans between 75-82...they gave us weapons, training etc...and suddenly dropped us down when a deal was brokered with Syria in 83...
politics sucks if you ask me...and having fought through some of the wars in Lebanon I can tell you first hand, the shittiest thing any man can do is get entangled in any war for any cause because at the end of the day causes are nothing but empty words that keep changing directions...
but i disgress...sorry for the OT![]()
No. Not at all. Not even remotely close. There is not a plethora of shiites and sunni's in ALL of the middle east. It's like saying there are Jews in Pakistan. Well... no shit, but there isn't 100 million of them. These religions are all over the world, but not even remotely accounted for or considered in ALL of the middle east. They're in Lebanon, too by the way...
Having a hard time making sense of your 3rd paragraph. Arab countries don't use Israel for anything. I'm not even sure how that came mind. It's the complete opposite, actually. When shit hits the fan in ANY country, what happens? When they lose control and have nothing left to lose, what happens? They attack Israel, be it verbal or military. Perfect example is the gulf war. Not even 2 weeks in, Iraq launched missiles towards Israel, BEFORE they even announced that they're sending the 12 troops and 8 machine guns they sent to help us.
There is too much hatred for Israel from the arab nations to ever use them in any way, because they're terrorists to them, just like the extremist muslims are to us. . Don't forget what happened in 1983 in southern lebanon... Those were US barracks. All because of Israel, we lost 100's of men.
Ahh... stupid politics![]()

Awqaf ministry suspends five preachers
Awqaf ministry suspends five preachers
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has suspended the services of five preachers until after the investigations by the Religious Affairs Committee are complete, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added the preachers were referred to the committee for not complying with the ministry directives. The Undersecretary of the ministry Adel Al-Falah told the daily the preachers violated the instructions in the circular which prevents preachers from talking about political issues in other countries. The daily added there are about 700 preachers working in mosques around the country.
A stance on extremism is being taken and not in a light way. Also several Islamic Mullas that preach on TV have been fired in recent weeks.
I grant you they are not huge numbers but they are there. I believe Lebanon, Iraq and Iran are the largest in terms of numbers...
In the gulf, most are originally from Iran and got nationalized.
In Bahrain, the tensions that erupted there last year were predominantly Sunni/Shiite as the demosntrations were lead by Shiites backed by Iran. Same on the borders of KSA and Yemen...
oh they do. Trust me on this. maybe I should have said arab leaders not countries...in the sense the regimes governing many arab countries use Israel as an excuse to maintain martial law...being accused of collaborating with Israel is one of the most common excuses in the region to make someone disappear without anyone daring to ask any question. The people are on the receiving end...fed on demagogy and racist slogans....Having a hard time making sense of your 3rd paragraph. Arab countries don't use Israel for anything. I'm not even sure how that came mind. It's the complete opposite, actually. When shit hits the fan in ANY country, what happens? When they lose control and have nothing left to lose, what happens? Not even 2 weeks in, Iraq launched missiles towards Israel, BEFORE they even announced that they're sending the 12 troops and 8 machine guns they sent to help us.
As for the dealings with Israel, when Hafez al Assad used air force to bombard Easter Beirut in October 90, it was only after Israel gave him the green light...USA also was playing along because of Syrian support for what was back then Desert Storm.
when IDF troops evacuated Lebanon in 2000, the SLA (South Lebanese Army - a faction that was splintered from the Leb army and used as a proxy by IDF) were forced to surrender their weapons to ....Hezbollah!!!! piles of small and medium weapons were left behind for the Hezeb instead of being destroyed or taken into Israel...
when IAF planes bombarded Iraq nuclear facilities in the early 80s, they had to fly into Iranian airspace to do this and Iran gave them a green light back then...and Khumeini was in power...
the list is long....those are things we lived through in 70s, 80s and 90s...tons of info on the web and in news paper archives...
my main point here is that arabs stance vrs. Israel is at best hypocritical to say the least...and vice-versa...under the table they play ball and in public they insult each other and keep their people tensed against each other.
the Terrorist label is a very convenient one either way...plus it has become a relative term...what one labels as freedom fighter, the other labels terrorist...back in WW2, Hitler considered the resistance fighters as terrorists...There is too much hatred for Israel from the arab nations to ever use them in any way, because they're terrorists to them, just like the extremist muslims are to us. . Don't forget what happened in 1983 in southern lebanon... Those were US barracks. All because of Israel, we lost 100's of men.
Ahh... stupid politics![]()
also, from my humble experience, what you hear in the news and what is really happening are two different things altogether...sometimes, 40 years later, a document is declassified and you realize how much wool was pulled over our eyes over the years...
in 83 when the marine barracks were attacked, it was done with a Syrian blessing to create a vaccum to allow syrian control to grow over Lebanon...many good men lost their lives in those explosions...I lost two cousins who were instructors with the marines at that time... you think USA did not know that Syria gave the green light? Intel reports were flowing in about this and yet they chose to ignore this and focus on the trigger man, in that case what was to become Hezbollah later on...
politics does suck...war sucks much more...hence my inclination for BB, AAS and HGH![]()
I understand that the differences exist everywhere. They exist in the UK, too. But Sunni Shiites are not in sizable population in Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Palestine and most of the middle east. Not even Saudi really. The countries you mentioned are all clumped together and closest to Iraq/Iran where there's plenty of population from them shifting south.
I don't see how Jordan would ever support them in any way. Heck, Israel was originally the Hashemite Kingdom, until it was split at the dead sea and declared Palestine. Egypt supported Palestinians in Gaza when they were locked down. The other countries mentioned... I don't know. But I don't see how Syria is in the mix really.

There are hundreds of Aramco kids in Dahran to this day. I see them a few times a year. Also MENA the little league team that makes it to the little league world series are all Aramco Kids. Aramco office in Houston is mainly to facilitate the importation of crude to the refineries in Lousiana.

31 now, seems this forums doesnt automatically update our ages, but I will take 29 all day. I have been in the ME for a decade. Started with combat operations in Iraq and went from there. I Married a Saudi 7 years ago and just never left for some strange reason. Maybe its because the ME is very close to Thailand![]()
The GCC is taking a huge stance on extremist, several hundred Muslim Brotherhood members have been arrested in recent weeks, and routinly KSA will release reports about capturing suspected terror suspects.
Problem is you guys arent previewed to this news, but the truth is the ME governments are taking a stance against shit bag religious hijackers.
Wow. I know they used to hit up Bahrain often. I didn't know there's still a ton out there. Last I heard was everyone left Ras Tanura and headed to Dhahran. But with the cities not being a private community anymore, lots have changed and many left. I guess they're still happy if there's a ton of them still there!
Dirt bike heaven out there.
