Sometimes the worst thing for a people is a crutch, since it teaches one to never stand on his own two feet. The success of a people cannot come from an exogenous source, but only until they themselves seek it. As the Quran says: "Allah does not change the condition of a people, until they change their inner-selves."
Of course, there are reasons for why the African American population has created this deleterious sub-culture, namely slavery, racism, and the list goes on. But it is my belief that in the end it will be upto the black people themselves to help themselves, instead of "whining" to others. However, it should be understood for intellectual reasons that the condition of black people can definitely be correlated to the treatment they have received for hundreds of years.
One of the vehicles of success available to blacks is Islam, through which a black thug turns into a scholar. Anyways, I won't bore you all with any of this...but just wanted to share an opinion from a black person.
