Heck, I remember when gas was 26 cents a gallon . . . my folks had a big ol' 1956 Chrysler New Yorker that got 7 miles to the gallon. Remember waiting in gas lines for hours and hours to get a fill up at $1 a gallon, lots of fun. Some folks parked their cars outside the gas stations and got up early so they'd be first in line at the pump.
    Then they'd limit each customer to 10 gallons at a time . . .

Next time something like that happens, I'll just get me a small motorcycle and putz around town on that . . . those Honda 250's will get 80 - 100 mpg.

I've seen it as much as $2.33 per gallon here in WI. I happen to think it's awesome that gas prices are what they are. I see all these arse fookers who drive these big SUVs and Trucks who never haul anything or go off-road and they are just b!tchin about prices and I just laugh. Besides, the rest of the world pays like $4 a gallon, why should we be so special? Mark

Read a story in yesterday's paper about how some folks with diesel engines pay $800 for a bio-something-or-other gizmo attached, and it lets them run their engines on waste oil from restaurants, which they get for free. Only deal is they have to start the engine on diesel fuel, then run it a few minutes on diesel before they shut it off. And in cold weather, the oil solidifies (unless they heat it or mix in a solvent). So, they can drive forever on one tank of $$$ diesel and lots of free french fry oil.

    If I drove more than I do, I'd consider it . . .
