    If you have money on your books you can purchase commissary, IF you are in a unit where you have enough privilege. You'd go up to the guard area and fill out a little slip. Here it was twice weekly up to 10 or so bucks each time... can't remember exactly. The selection is pretty poor. Most people live off of commissary Tap Ramen. It's like 30 cents a pack and still beats jail food by a mile. Cigs were available too, but only in certain higher privilege units. They could be used as currency. When you get arrested or turn yourself in make sure you have cash!

    damn. the one jail i was in... we ordered once a week.. but without a money limit.. ppl were eating like pigs.
