So as an outsider, I'm interested to know what is the general consensus on this thread to who you would want to be in power? Obama or Romney?

Not sure how messed up the system is out in the USA (if it is) but here in the uk it's shocking. During our last election the majority of voters didn't vote for the conservatives nor did they vote for the lib democrats. So what does our system decree as the right course of action? Coalition! So we now now have a country being run by two parties that no one wanted in power from the outset!!!!!!!!!

Well the nation was 50/50 + -% so the board should not be much different although from what I have seen it was more for Romney but that may just be my perception.

I see the US going down the same path as the UK in the near future unless a miracle happens to stop it.

Ive been watching the news all night (due to work) and it's funny (not really) even the Democrats are openly admitting the Obama lied (fear mongering) about Romney on many things and only say that Romney should have been better/quicker and defending himself and not waiting to prove it was wrong. Also that Obama's strategy of blaming Bush and everyone else for anything that went wrong obviously worked. WTF? The best liar wins? It's not about whats right anymore.

I have to say i was honesty going to give Romney a chance until I watched the debates. Romney skirted EVERY question and never once explained one of his plans which scared me away from him.

The Republicans only have themselves to blame, AGAIN! Last time it was Sarah Palin, I mean what an insult to the intelligence of the American public that was. Then you have Mit Romney who still thinks that it's the 1950's and said "we'll do this" but never explained how. The problem with the Republican party is that a lot of them are so out of touch with modern reality. They really need to get shot of the Evangelists, the racists, the bible thumpers, the bigots and the tea party goers percentage because they are quasi extremists and that's enough to put anyone off. Now I know that not all of them are like that, but there is a percentage that is and how is that going to appeal to anyone that is of a different sexual orientation, or a different colour than white, or a woman, because guess what, they have as much right to vote as white males.

To those who say nothing will happen because nothing happened the last 4yrs, I'm not sure where you've been living. Average income is down more than $5k...maybe it's not for you but it is for a butt load of people. National debt is at an insane level, all time high and continues to weaken the value of the dollar. Will only get worse. Unemployment hasn't changed. True unemployment has gone up tremendously. IMO, if a full time worker loses his job and gets part time work delivering pizzas 15hrs a wk you shouldn't be able to count this as a positive turn around...it's not. This is all in the last 4yrs and only scrapes the barrel.

Debt will go up
Dollar will become weaker
Income will go down
More people will receive entitlements
Tax rates will go up...and change nothing. Take all the revenue of every millionaire in the country and it doesn't make a dent.

Oh, and the country will become more divided...this is unquestionable.

Final note, while there's a good chance Obama won't win the popular vote I do not agree that we should do away with the electoral system. This would be a disaster IMO. It would make CA and NY always primary players. There would never be a shift in states. As is now, the battleground states do shift over time. And the system doesn't favor one side over the other. Bush won in 2000 without the popular vote. If Obama does this will be the 4th time that's happened in history.

1. Premium is only needed if recommended by your manufacturer because of high compression. I hope you don't do it because it is "better" gas.

Blacks already had a history of voting Democrat. In this case I think the unions, government employees and women had a lot to do with it. Plus, he appeased the hispanics just in time after breaking his election promises to them (although they didn't like Romney anyway).

I'm not sure who you are reffering to . But as of now Obama has the popular vote. And that is with out Florida and he is leading there.

My best friend is mormon and didn't get offended when someone assumed she voted for romney.

I actually have a friend whos wife (African American) voted Romney and he voted Obama. Which breaks another trend since most women vote with their husbands.

I was saying I know several blacks who voted for Romney but they are a minority. You're right though, most in the black community will vote democrat regardless of the candidate just as many whites in the south used to do until 15yrs ago or so.

I also have a friend who is here in the states right now. He's a black man from Sierra Leone Africa. He cannot fathom why anyone would vote for Obama.

My favorite minority example in my own life though is this. When Obama won his first term I was still doing a little personal training in a gym. I had a female client from Iran. Her and her family had escaped from there in the 1970's when that whole place went nuts. Now these are her words, not mine. She said it's scary how close Obama's words mirror what she heard in Iran before she left, which was exactly why she left. Anyway, I found that interesting.

All in all, I would have more respect for Obama and his supporters if they would openly admit that the policies and views are not traditional American ones. That the idea is to dramatically transform the nation. They may very well believe it's a transformation for the better but that's hard to buy when this country has survived as the most powerful and greatest country of all time on the basis of every principle opposite of Obama. I would simply like to see the left admit this. Admit what is and stop trying to pretend this is traditional American thought when nothing could be further from the truth.

I know it will be a long time before a third party has a president elected, but I wish congress would become more diverse for the very reason you stated. Rather than having two diametrically opposed parties always caught in a battle for power, it would be nice to see some other parties with different agendas and points of view gain a foothold.
