i use 1 and 1/2 inch pins and i never hit bone... and my legs are thin!!!

use like and 1 inch pin and your good

I use one inch to the meaty part of the thigh - you wouldnt be able to hit bone if you wanted to.

I use a 23 G 1.5" in my quads and like it better than any other injection site....just make sure you're sitting down and have your leg relaxed (even supported on the bed if you want) cuz your leg will get a little jumpy while you're pinning. I've had the least post injection pain using my quads...and like Dukkit said....stay to the outside of the quad...let us know how it went!
