It just drives me crazy to know how utterly pointless this is. There will never be a time in my life where I will use this. I'm sure of it. Because any job that you'd have to do this (which I'm pretty sure is restricted to "math professor") I wouldn't do.

If you only had to study thing you should apply in real life you would study 20% of what you are studying. Most things are pointless.

I could be doing something that involves math that has some point to it, so I could relate and find interest, but no. We're just doing word problems with imaginary numbers. Like anyone is ever going to ask me in a job interview to solve systems of multiple unknown variables by hand. Or the infamous "how long it takes object to hit the ground" problems we used to do. Who cares? I'm not going to be deploying paratroopers! And if I am they better get good at swimming with all they're gear on when I make a mistake... lol

The best answer I've heard was the one where the girl stood up in a pre-med physics(?) course and challenged the professor. "Why do we need to study this when we'll never use it as doctors?" And the professor said something to the tune of, "It keeps idiots like you from becoming doctors."

I had to study antropology, tough but a computer geek who isn't and antropologits, just a moron who has a text book, explins it the worse he can and tests you.

As a college grad I can start off in Officer Candidate School (much higher rank and pay). Why would I throw away years of college to get shot at for $14,000 a year?
