Great news and Congratulations. I wish I could have been there for that one.

As for me, I made a last minute decision to dive into the Open Class this week. Figured I wanted to get a chance to go up against guys closer to my weight even if it meant going Open Class. I weighed in at 189.3 and had 14 guys in the Lightheavy Weight Class. I am happy to report after 18 years of competing, 22 NPC shows and 4 times runner up, I finally WON AN OPEN CLASS!!! To do it at a National Qualifying Show and to do it in such a huge class was an unbelievable feeling. I will update with more info and pics as I get them but just wanted to say, HARD WORK PAYS OFF!!. It might take longer than you want it to but if you keep at it good things happen.
OMG I bet you where ecstatic and had a good celebration that day/night. I hope you have a special place for that trophy. How many more competitions do you have this summer? Are there any more local shows coming up even if they are smaller venues, I would like to see/learn more.

I have several pics between 93 and 08 just dont have them scanned. The 2008 pic was about 10 days out but that's the best I could do for comparison shots.

    1993, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

First pic, 161lbs, next 4 all right around 190lbs give or take 3-4lbs.
I want to see some pics between 1994 - 2007 Nice progress and hopefully it shows some of the newbies (such as myself) that it's not a 6 month or 1 year deal but it's years of constant dedication and work.

and yes, the way you describe the story it is as if the universe pushed you towards this for a reason. it was YOUR time.

i keep reading this story lol ill be reading it a lot leading up to my show, it helps keep my thoughts positive and keeps me motivated. i hope to just get a top 5 placing as well in the mens open heavies. im still a pup in this sport so im just glad to be competing against the bigger guys
Thanks Vishus, you have 3x the potential I do/did in this sport. There isnt a state or regional level show you cant win IF you come in conditioned.

It's always getting older/more mature but in reality the visual difference is just from being leaner.

Funny, cause my glutes start to get striated long before my arms or shoulders start getting even remotely contest ready. Yes, MrsFire has come crazy quads and calves. I promise you guys, she works her ass off to look how she does.

Yes, the celebration lasted almost a week. Funny cause I think we have almost 40 BB trophies up stairs in our cardio room but MrsFire has my First Place one proudly displayed above our fireplace all by itself. We are truly each others biggest fan. No more shows for me this year, mrsfire doing USA's in July. I will probably make the same run next year as I did this year except with another 6-8lbs of muscle on me.
