LOL.. thx for the compliment man! its funny every time i think this thread has completely fallen off the grid it pops back up! LOL. since this thread was made my position on carb cycling is the same in that IMO it is the most effective dietary method available for reducing body fat while maintaining not only LBM but also (and just as importantly IMO) SANITY!!

there is nothing worse than running low carbs day in and day out for weeks and months! ive done it and hate it and will never go back to it!

one thing i would like to say here that i would add to the carb cycle is fasting. not every day but on non-training days! awesome! it frees up calories as well at the end of the day u can eat a huge meal and really stuff urself if u feel so inclined. i dont know about yall but i like stuffing myself!

it also teaches discipline (which we all need) as well as how to deal with hunger. lets face it if u dont eat for 21hrs EOD u will get hungry! BUT it can be managed.. not to mention the feeling of accomplishment u will get not only for being successful at overcoming hunger and fasting but also for the progress u will make if ur diet is set up properly!

Sorry to bump an old thread.

This was really informative, really appreciate your input here 405. It cleared up a lot, I used had a look at the 'IF Calculator'.

Does anyone have any recommended reading about CarbCycling? I have fouind several online, amazon etc. Im unsure if any are good. Im a real book geek so just something half decent would be fine.

Great post 405! Thanks for sharing the info. I may try to throw a carb-cycling diet together after reading this. I was surprised to hear that your tdee is 3,000 cals!! Can I ask what your stats are? And did you use a formula to come up with that number, or is it just from experience and knowing your body? I only ask so that I can accurately calculate my tdee. I take LBM in pounds times 15. My stats are 190 lbs at 15 percent bf, so 2,400 cals. I just want to know how much different our stats are so I can ball-park my tdee in the most accurate way.

right now im maintaining my weight and bf% eating approx. 6000-6500cals every 48hrs.. i would like to note here i am fasting EOD and cycling carbs EOD as well. when i ate 3200cals ED i gained 2lbs per week..

a good rule of thumb is to use LBM x 15 and run it for a couple weeks and see how u do. if u dont gain any fat add 200cals and do the same.. keep adding cals 200 at a time (or even 100 if u like) until u notice ur gaining weight.. this is not a fast process! and it may take a little trial and error.. it has taken me 1 big cut, 2 tries at maintenance that turned into mini bulks and then subsequent mini cuts until i finally think i have it figured out..

have some patience.. if u are consistent u will figure it out.. if u do gain weight just cut it back off and try again.. keep track of what u do so u dont make the same mistake twice.
