So as an outsider, I'm interested to know what is the general consensus on this thread to who you would want to be in power? Obama or Romney?

Not sure how messed up the system is out in the USA (if it is) but here in the uk it's shocking. During our last election the majority of voters didn't vote for the conservatives nor did they vote for the lib democrats. So what does our system decree as the right course of action? Coalition! So we now now have a country being run by two parties that no one wanted in power from the outset!!!!!!!!!

No single man is in charge of the US. Whether its repub or dems Wall Street, Major Corporations and Banks control the US and the decision making

the funny thing is that profits from licensing sesame street merchandise would more than pay for the entire operating budget of pbs/npr.

can't really blame anyone on the right for talking about putting them on the chopping block, it's obviously left leaning programming and gets federal funding. use federal funds to push a right wing agenda and liberals would be frothing at the mouth about canceling it.

no, however it is interesting to note that gay rights groups were pressuring sesame street earlier this year to get them to "bring bert and ernie out of the closet" and begin scripting them as openly gay.

not sure where you are getting conspiracy from but i am sure that if i were the gop or a member of the gop that i would be quick to put a stop to federal monies being spent on public programming for children that promotes or encourages a gay agenda. i wouldn't want my kids watching programming that promotes or encourages worshipping an invisible man in the sky either, so i wouldn't complain if the left wanted to stop public funds from being allocated to such a program should it exist.

ah, ok. i may have posted a link which referenced the guy with the blog starting it, it was just the first link that showed up but as you said, it wasn't the station pushing it and i didn't intend to infer that they did. my original point was only that pbs/npr are decidedly left leaning broadcasting and it doesn't surprise me that the gop would like to pull the plug on federal funds being used to broadcast a message that differs from their own. as far as i am aware, the gop never singled out sesame street or big bird.

All in all, I would have more respect for Obama and his supporters if they would openly admit that the policies and views are not traditional American ones. That the idea is to dramatically transform the nation. They may very well believe it's a transformation for the better but that's hard to buy when this country has survived as the most powerful and greatest country of all time on the basis of every principle opposite of Obama. I would simply like to see the left admit this. Admit what is and stop trying to pretend this is traditional American thought when nothing could be further from the truth.
