It's at the lowest part of the rib cage and feels like it's on top of it as opposed to anything with the obliques. I iced it a bit today and still hurts but not really bad enough to take any NSAIDs but I may before bed to help ensure it doesn't wake me up.Originally Posted by almostgone

I bought some from APT recently. They had a promo going that if.you bought a set of medium wraps they threw in a set of light wraps and basic lifting straps. My wrists are a weak point with me, son the wraps help me bump up the weight on flyes.
I got my lifting straps there as well and use them.on deads and occasionally on shrugs.

Nach, search for a thread called Pho, it was here in the lounge.. A thread I made back in like 2010. Check around the 2nd to last page post on 1/26/14 @ 1045pm. That's my wife's home made recipe right there.Originally Posted by NACH3
Going to defer my lift tonight guys and am not going to work either. We lost one of our "children" tonight and the wife and I will be low profile. Just finished loading her in the truck and are taking her to be cremated. It helps the wife as she has a small shrine to the mastiffs we've lost over the years.
She was 8 years old and we are thankful for the happiness she bought to our lives. Was hesitant to post this, but I think it will help me deal.with this and help me stay strong for the wife. I know to some people they are just dogs, but to us they are so much more.
I'll be back at it tomorrow and use the sadness to drive on.
Will be checking in and reading off and on tonight because even on the worst days all of.you bring a smile.to my face.![]()

Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup
Serves 6 - 8
For the soup
3-4 pounds beef shanks with bone still in (or beef short ribs)
5 garlic cloves, smashed
1 inch knob fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
1 bunch scallions, cut in 2 inch slices
1 plum tomato, quartered
1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
4 - 5 whole star anise pods
2 Thai chilis, split lengthwise (optional)
2 tablespoons chili bean sauce
1/2 cup Chinese (Shaoxing) rice wine
1 cup good-quality soy sauce
1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken stock
10 cups water, or enough to cover beef
To serve
1 pound baby bok choy or broccoli rabe
1 pound Chinese egg noodles or wheat noodles
Chopped fresh cilantro, if desired
For the soup, in a large stockpot, cover the beef shanks with water and bring to a boil. Immediately drain the water and set the beef aside.(This step helps remove impurities to make a more pure soup.) Clean out the stockpot (or have another ready).
Add the par-boiled beef, garlic cloves, ginger, scallions, tomato, five spice powder, brown sugar, star anise, chilis, chili bean sauce, rice wine, soy sauce, chicken stock, and water to the pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for approximately 2 hours, or until the beef is fork tender. Turn off the heat and shift the lid to allow steam to escape. Let meat stand in the cooking liquid for another hour.
Remove the beef to a cutting board. Pour the stock through a cheesecloth-lined sieve into another pot. Discard the vegetable solids. Slice the beef and return to the stock. (At this point, it's best to refrigerate soup overnight, or up to three days. The flavors will improve while resting and the fat will be easier to remove.) Skim the fat from the surface, and return the soup to a boil.
To serve, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the bok choy and blanch until bright green and tender, about 2 minutes. Remove the bok choy with a spider and set aside. Bring the water back to a boil. Add the noodles and cook according to package directions. Strain.
Divide noodles and bok choy among bowls. Ladle the beef and hot broth into the bowls. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve warm.
Thanks for sharing Haz!
Looks really good, Haz. What's the spider doohickey you used to remove the bok choy after it is blanched?

I agree Clarky. One arm d'bell rows are much more productive for me as well. I can focus on getting that big squeeze that draws the elbow up and slightly inwards.
I've tried bracing my forehead on the back of the bench and attempting d'bell rows with both arms and for me, about the only thing that did is put a dent in my forehead where I rested it on the back of the bench. The muscle stimulation wasn't half as good as the one arm d'bell rows.

He's confused. He rode with us to.drop off my girl and when we were putting her on the gurney to roll her inside her started doing a loud, low pitched howling. He's looks for her every so often here at the house, but I've been keeping him occupied.
Big guy, you can always ask me any question you want. You and the guys/gals are like family to me, which is great because as you know, I don't think there's too many relatives left in the part of my family that I know about.![]()

Really looking forward to that back lift this evening. For me, (once Marcus got me in the habit of keeping my mind focused on working the muscle instead of half@ss repping away), I've been able to actually feel and picture in my head how the muscles are contracting and working to move the weight.
Also, I've been doing long count slow negatives on the partial reps @ failure which really makes the muscle and skin almost burn like it's been scalded. Think I've mentioned it before, but there are times it feels like my blood has turned into a hot fizzing liquid and the heat just radiates across the whole back, which I love. I can really feel this sensation on low pulley rows.
Deads are getting stronger. I'm.still doing a set or two of unweighted hypers before deads, but my working weight on deads is slowly creeping up.
I think that tonight instead of a half amp of Testoviron, I may crack open a Testex amp instead and pin a half of it. I know there's not really any huge difference between the two, but what can I say, I'm still a kid @ heart.![]()

Really sorry to hear about your dog man. People who say they are only a dog are completely wrong. Dogs bring so much joy to their owners and are great friends they will never not be happy to see you.
Hope you are feeling better and remember we are all here for one another in this thrread.
Today is back day for me in the gym its a bank hol here so will train early in the day
Thanks, DCI, and yes sir, this thread is a huge part of my life.Sounds like it is going to be a multinational back day.
