You're right....
It's ok to put on some water and a little fat when bulking, beneficial actually to maximize the cycle. But if too much fat is being accumulated then the diet is wrong. You can tell the difference between water and fat. When bulking, I can lose literally 5-10lbs of retained water in a day with diuretics. Diuretics don't make your fat go away.
bf% levels are directly dictated by our amount of muscle tissue, diet and cardio. Yeah, the thyroid has to do with this too but that is dictated by lbm, diet and cardio.
