i'm not certain if they do check for it, but I would imagine that they do. when I was getting checked by the Clearinghouse for D1 football and track and field they showed me the list of banned substances and it went on for pages, literally. i'm going to see if i can find out for sure or not, but they seemed so thorough about what was on there that I would almost garauntee it. my friend went to another D1 track school and got in trouble for drinking too much coffee and Red Bull before one of his meets because the NCAA even tests for caffeine levels.
i'm thinking of taking the drug cleanser sponsored by this site... it costs about $100, and i'd imagine it's worth every penny if it keeps you eligible.
I'll see if I can find this information out for you though...

well i found a site that lists the banned substances for the NCAA for the years 2006-2007. when i went through the NCAA Clearinghouse, however, the list seemed much more comprehensive. it does not list letro as being tested for, but every category of drugs tested for has a "and related compounds", which means that they may not be mentioning everything that turns up on a drug test.
but here's the site so you can check for yourself...
