    IT career path ?

OK so im doing IT courses at college right now, but once I finish the current ones (A+, Server, Essentials, Networking) I will have to decide what field I want to go into.

This decision is important cos you have to be on the right course for the work you want.

Oly problem is I cant decide. I like them all.

2 sides... servers and routers... take your pic then from there decide what you want to specialize in but you have to round your knowledge in that whole base.

p.s. dozens of people will trump your education with experience so you better know ur sh*t and be able to sell yourself.

So you are just taking some CompTia certifications? If that is the case, i hope you have some experience because certs mean jack shit in the real world when you have no experience.

I have a degree and it means jack shit, i will never forget walking into my first Desktop position, i was asked "What is your skill set?" and i said "Well, i have a degree in Networking" and the response was "So, what is your skill set".

    True, Cisco kicks ass.

I have a IT diploma, but am not enjoying the field as much as I thought I would.

Like said above, field experience > certification in the IT field.

werd.. and then specialize in something.. doesn't matter.. in security it is the CISSP cert..

    good luck..

companies are hiring guys with their masters degree and putting them into the training/certs that they want..

IBM is famous for hiring you, then terminating you to hire you back as a contractor at 2x the pay..

    good luck
