    Im finally ready...

I have already posted that im going to Marine boot camp in Sept. Well I got it changed to mid July because I just can't freaking wait that long. WOOT so excited! gonna be 03XX (infantry)

    Anyone have advice for Boot?

and can anyone tell me what the first week of receiving is like? (i heard its like the 1st trip to meps but only 10 times worse)

And im very physically fit now, can run 3 miles in 20 min, I can do 81 situps in 2 min, and can do 13 pull ups. That should give me a good Fitness score!

    OoRah!

I'm sorry but that was funny in a serious sort of way. Not flaming, but how can anyone young get excited about 24/7 bullshlt, no sex for god knows how long, nasty base ho's, low to no pay and a free trip to whatever hell that________(insert any presidents name) decides to send you to? It's a whole new ball game and I would just as soon set the game out For anyone that wants to flame, I have lived (from 73' to date) through one war after another and didn't see the use of any of them!!!! It's not ww2 and the Germans and Japanese are too busy making money to invade europe

I actually get sick when I see military commercials on tv because of the bs they show! I will leave this thread because it will get twisted around to where I'm not "American" I think our fighting force deserves more than the shlt we put them through.

Believe it or not, this may be surprising...but

NOT EVERYONE WHO GOES TO COMBAT DIES!

ive talked to countless Marines who came back from Iraq. There fine. If you die you die, hell I could die right now after I post this being hit by a drunk driver. Its dumb to worry about the inevitable.

Now heres the way I see the war. My brothers are over there being shot at so im going to go and make sure they come back home.

EDIT: also let me just throw this in here...for all you saying were in Iraq for oil look at this, we only get 17% of our oil from the middle east...

Anyways WOOOT im so freakin excited that im gonna be a Marine! Ive wanted to do this since I was a kid. Dream come true!

Im excited because I wanted to do this since I was a kid. Also all those hardships are a good thing, Hardships make you strong, you don't join the Marines for money, or luxury. You join for the intangible's Confidence, leadership, and belonging.

Fair enough, I think the Marines are the greatest, just think we have an idiot leading them They should make me president, then we would have some real fun Gas $.99 a gallon, free cable and free high speed internet for all and a machine gun in every closet (before you think I'm crazy, that is exactly what the swiss do) Hell, we might even go back and win a few wars we lost. Can you say carpet bombing

You never get used to the DIs dont get injured... you could be stuck in boot for a year. and first week recieving ... precreuit isnt that bad just alot of paper work/sleep ***rivation. And you actually dont pt as much as you think

you may be ready physically but mentally you better be even stronger! My best friend is in the marines and i could dig up countless letters he sent me from paris island about 3 years ago about what a living hell basic was and he ended up graduateing with blues (I think that's what it's called) so that's somthing to think about. He is now in Iraq on his second tour and can't wait to get out. He isn't in much danger since theya re basically training the Iraqi's how to not be pussies and defend themselves (his wods).

San Diego is the way to go, that is where I went. Remember to be aggressive in the bathroom. They only give you 60 seconds to piss, and the way they countdown, it's really more like 30. I wasn't aggressive enough, and couldn't get in there fast enough. I had to hold it for 22 hours.

fyi when they say heads up... really duck! That is all the wisdom I have for ya.

I bet you're scared as shit right now bro so just try to relax. Don't think about that war going on, don't think about fighting... Think about today! You are gonna kick ass and we will be waiting here come the end of basic for you to report back to us how you schooled everyone in pt!!

  39. #39
Simple advise from a Former Marine Sgt. - Learn your knowledge. They will make you PT hard regardless of what shape you are in. But knowledge (general orders, chain of command, BST, etc.) cannot be "trained" like running 3 miles.

Also, *I hope you read this part* sometimes you have to break the rules when its right.

If a recruit is falling behind, and it means you get in trouble for helping him, help him. Thats what we are all about.
