Thumbs down Anyone thats had an infection... little help

I did my first inject this past wed evening. I did a lot of research before doing so. Mapped out the area, got turomo 23g 1.5" and injected just about 2ml (frontload) to my upper right quad.. I microwaved a coffee mug with hot water and let some ** test E warm up while i took a shower. Thoroughly cleaned the injection area, and top of bottle with alcohol pads... injection went smoothly (maybe a little fast?) put an antibiotic (bacitracin, and neomycin) covered with bandaid. Next morning woke up and was sore.... little limping but i was alright.... upper quad felt bruised..... friday woke up real sore.... still reading i realized its probably just virgin muscle and quit being a *****.. popped advil all day..... today woke up.... could barely walk.... over the day it got progressively swollen over my upper quad... checked at work a few times and it wasnt red. Got home fell asleep for a bit and came down with a fever.... stopped by my moms house (shes an nurse.... told her it was a splinter) and noticed my upper to mid quad is a little red and blotchy (will post pics later if interested). At this point i figure its my body having a reaction to the oil as it spreads.... the swelling isnt really an issue as i dont think its an abscess ( 1.5" needle down into the quad). I put some more antibiotic ointment on it, got a heating pad, and im pushing fluids, while trying to take down as much chicken noodle soup and chicken breast as i can.... Am I overreacting and forgetting everything I read about first injections, or is this something i really need to be concerned about? Im supposed to inject in the AM so what is your advice from here?

    Thanks,
    Jack

I once had an abcess and had to have surgery on it because it was so bad, it wouldnt heal even after being cut open and packed with gauze. If you wait too long to go to the doctor that is what happens, I tried to wait it out too long. Its been awhile and I cant remember how long I waited, but it was nearly 2 weeks I think. I was convinced it would go away on its own. Dont make the same mistake. It is no big deal to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics. I would look into seeing a doc if gets worse over the weekend or if it isnt better by this coming wed. If it starts getting worse go in ASAP. Signs you will see include: high fever (mine was 102), skin will be very red like a sunburn, skin hot to the touch, and may develop into cellulitis. Cellulitis is when its all red and the skin as a strange texture to it, kinda like you have goose bumps.

the length doesnt matter if you got some kind of contaminant in there somehow and bacteria is starting to grow. Mine was all the way down in the muscle, he had to cut out some of my muscle in my ass. Now I have a small crater! YOu dont want that on the side of your leg! At least you cant see mine when I am dressed, but yours would show more on your leg. Mine really isnt too bad now, it healed up well.
So your skin is red and you have that funny bumpy texture to your skin? Your fever is high?

Are you sure your gear is sterile ??

If you have fever and its hot to the touch do not mess around and get to a Doc fast..

Really sounds like an abcess to me. Get yourself to the doctors as soon as you can. I went to an Urgent Care Office, those are open on weekends and open to like 10pm here. Dont mess around with this one. TAKE YOUR PULSE. IS IT REALLY FAST? This is another sign. Mine was about 100 or so. This means that it has worked itself into your bloodstream, and can do damage to other parts of your body including your heart and other organs.

because it takes time for a abcess to form . If your gear is not sterile you can do everything right it doesnt matter..

You need to see a Doc Now

Not trying to scare you its just this can be a very serious matter ..

Your health is everything please get to a doc

That bacteria population grows fast. It grows exponentially. A matter of just 12 hours can make a big difference. Ever hear of that flesh eating bacteria? That crap kills people in like 3 or 4 days!

Oh, and of course dont do another injection until you can say for sure that your gear isnt contaminated.

Did you take your PULSE or HEART RATE yet? I would like to know if its high. Mine was up to about 100 beats per minute when I went to the doc. Just take your pulse on the bottom of your wrist.

Sounds very serious I would rather get it checked now . when it comes to stuff like this its always better to be safe that sorry. Make sure to be honest with them so they know the right anti to use if indeed its a infection...

Good luck and please keep us posted on how your doing

I hear there are many floating around now since they went out of business. DOH, april of 07 was manufacture date., sounds fishy.

    Introduction
Cellulitis (sel-u-LI-tis) is a potentially serious bacterial infection of your skin. Cellulitis appears as a swollen, red area of skin that feels hot and tender, and it may spread rapidly.

Skin on the face or lower legs is most commonly affected by this infection, though cellulitis can occur on any part of your body. Cellulitis may be superficial — affecting only the surface of your skin — but cellulitis may also affect the tissues underlying your skin and can spread to your lymph nodes and bloodstream.

Left untreated, the spreading bacterial infection may rapidly turn into a life-threatening condition. That's why it's important to recognize the signs and symptoms of cellulitis and to seek immediate medical attention if they occur.

Look worse than I thought .. Please go to the ER now......

Was just looking at those pictures of the vials. If their website is still up they have pictures of the vials. Each vial has a special color top on it. Look and see if it matches up.

Yeah I have to agree that if your heart rate is high and you have the signs of an infection you should go see a dr right away.. Just to be safe. Bacteria in the blood can lead to sepsis which is much worse than an abscess....

You could run the gear through a filter, but if you confirm an infection from the dr. then you might just want to get some new stuff

They will probably put you on an IV drip of antibiotics and prescribe some more in pill form to take home.

yes, no amount of gear is worth risking an abcess. If I had 100 vials of it I would toss it all. Believe me, having a bad abcess is a bad thing to go through. I went through 1 month of having to pack gauze in my ass every day, and going in to the doctor each week to have it drained more and looked at. It never healed in 1 month! I had to have surgery to remove the bad tissue. Not fun!

Mercedes- Although it is blotchy it has no texture.. i thank everyone for all the advice you guys are giving me so fast but i have no option but to wait another 7 hours... dont think i will be sleeping tonight... AND im supposed to work tomorrow

maldorf- was your abcess more of a lump? my whole upper quad is swollen, like an 8-10" area and feels like a bruise to the touch which is why i thought it was just virgin muscle until i showered and it turned red

Ok, stuff might be legit then. I would check with someone that knows what color that top is supposed to be. I have no idea what color, i never had their test.
Chances are it wont get too much worse just over night. Main thing that makes me think you have a bad infection is the high fever and how it is red and skin feels all hot. From what I saw though it did kinda look like cellulits because the skin had a funny sheen to it, looked shiny and I could see some small dimple like bumps. hard to tell by picture. Youll be in good hands tomorrow.

It started out like yours but then turned into a bump later on. If it wasnt red until the shower then that is a good sign I would say. The heat probably just spread the oil around more maybe and increased blood flow down there. It does kinda look like an allergic reaction too. Only way to be safe is seek professional advice in the morning huh.

I thought it could be some sorta reaction also but the heat fever and high pulse are leaning me towards infection( hoping its not cellulitis). But like you said only way to know for sure it to have doc look at it..
