i've been in extreme pain for 5 days now and no signs of it getting any better. my left glute is swollen. its like there is a softball in there. it is not red or warm though.. so not sure if its infected.. and i thought an abscess is more of a golf ball sized lump... maybe im wrong though.. has anyone had injection pain for this long without needing medical attention??

abcesses come in all shapes and sizes.. depending on the depth of the infection, the type of tissue the infection likes to consume.. you can get a wide range of symptoms .. moral of the story.. if you read this before you go to the doctor ... Johny-too-small is going to come to your house and drag u there

If an abscess is ignored it can become messy surgery. You could end up with one normal cheek and one old-man scarred-up deflated cheek--
and that's if you're lucky.
