never arm wrestle!!! this really sucks... any help would be great!

So I arm wrestled my friends a few weeks ago (biiig mistake) first guy was a piece of cake... second guy we both didn't really move for about 20 seconds of struggling and trying hard then we decided we'd better stop before we hurt ourselves... anyway my right arm is in such pain now... it's like a heart beating pain in a way. It's around the elbow area inner arm and outter.

    1. does anyone know what this is or what happened?

    2. I'm currently on cycle about 3-4 into it..... should i keep on going? lifting isn't working out so well with this injury.. my chest workout the other day sucked and was sort of painful. I am guessing back will suck tonight too so maybe i'll just do cardio / abs.

    3. do you know how long this might last and what I can do or take to hurry up the healing process? I have hgh i wanted to start cycling but i sort of need to wait a couple months until i can afford the rest so taking it right now might not be a good idea. Thanks for any help!

oops, tennis elbow, and what Peachfuzz said! not good my friend, unfortunately it will take few weeks to recover, do light weights if you can or just let it rest, take anti inflammatory medicine and ice it few times a day. I had this injury 3 times already and still recovering from my last one, it sucks. good luck bro...

You've got a good ole case of Tendonitis.... I have the same thing I'm dealing with right now. I got mine with about 4 weeks left on my cycle and pushed thru the pain which was dumb. I've since taken a few weeks off of heavy lifting and my elbow is about 80% right now. I will give it another week or 2 before i start going heavy again so long as it is 100% pain free. There is no way around it without rest. Ice and Ibuprofin and Traumeel are your friends.

One other thing that you should do is get yourself an elbow brace. I got one of the spandex type ones and it has a velcro strap at both ends. I wear this when I go to sleep so I don't have to worry about twisting my arm or anything during my sleep. I also wear it when at the gym but again you need to take it easy and let the tendon heal.

I did this a couple years back. Smoked like 4 guys my size and then decided to push my luck against a guy 100lbs bigger than me. I won, but really I lost, ended up having to rest my bicep/elbow for about a month before I could lift again. I'll never arm wrestle again, either. Not worth it if you're serious about lifting imo.

    fix it

You should get this fixed. Active Release Techniques is the best way to do it. It'll take between 3 to 6 visits probably. It's seriously incredible stuff.

Find an ART doc by going to activerelease.com

Armwrestling without training for it is like entering a triathalon and not training for it. Yea we know how to ride a bike, swim and run, but put it in at max capacity and it not gonna be good. Armwrestling takes a huge toll on your tendons. I started off doing it in high school and at parties and things like that. I was good for those type of events. One day I decided to enter my first Armwrestling competition. It was at a nightclub and I just saw the flyer on the door and said what the hell. I was at weigh ins and sizing up my competion thinking Hey....i got a good shot at winning this. Little did I know what was about to come. It just so happened that this was the Louisiana State Championships and it was a double illimination tournament. I drew the defending state champion right out of the gate. I looked t him and wasnt impressed. Very undersized!!! As soon as the ref started to get our grip straight I felt something very unfamiliar to me. He was putting a ton of pressure pulling me his direction almost like a spring coiling up to explode his direction. its called backpressure and he had tons of it!!!!! Refs hands let us go and I pulled as hard as I could, but like a bullet out of a gun, he had my arm extended his direction way away from my body and it was like at a 120degree angle. I forced myself to scrable out of his grip and fouled out, resulting in the strap being brought out. 2 fouls and your dq'd. Once they put the strap on me I could feel this guys power!! It was like a machine. And a level of intensity that was unreal. Needless to say he quickly disposed of me in a hot second. After getting my ass handed to me, I wanted to understand how he was so freaking strong. I worked out, i was strong in the gym. So I learned about it. First and foremost it is technique and speed! Technique will almost outdue muscle everytime in this sport. Second... is endurance. This is where tendon strength comes in. These guys train not just their muscles, but they also train their tendons specifically. They pull thick elastic straps and inner tubes in multiple directions. They pull backpressure bands day in and day out. To give you an idea of how strong their backpressure and tendons are. Take one arm and grip your chin up bar at the gym. leave your other arm at your side, dont hold your wrist of the arm that is pulling. Now, pull yourself up with just that one arm. Ive only seen a few guys that can do this. Not only can they pull themselves up, but they can hold themselves in that top position for about 15 seconds, like at the top of a chinup movement.

So yesss sir, if you armwrestle, you are gonna get some major pain in the tendons. unless ur armwrestling someone that is just a whimp and you slam him. Then your tendons will laugh with you.
