Back tattoos...good or bad idea?

Considering getting one, I like the wings. Just wanted a few opinions because this is permanent thing ya know.

ok some of you are leaning towards the feminine side of things when the term "wings" comes up. So I found to casual examples of one male and one female In the pictures above. I'm just not seeing anything that directly says "girly" to the one of the mans back. This could just be me I don't know. More opinions the better although I will not solely base my decision off opinions alone but are used to guide my decision in the right direction. I damn sure don't want a huge tat that I am not happy with and people make fun of lol.

yeah I know, I seen it a couple times but hes always changing his avi. It actually inspired me a lil bit. I just don't wanna go to over bearing ya know, where all you see is the tat and nothing else.
On the on the other hand , the shop said they could do it for 200 bucks and touch up my tribal on my left delt for 100. Tempted to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I've got a 3rd reich eagle/pheonix hybrid on my back. i love it, but I get bummed the more I see guys with wings or any type of bird on their back. If I could do it over, I'd probably get something else. tattoos are a form of self expression. To each his own, but trendy tattoos are gay IMO. You've already got a tribal. I'd recommend going for something more original. Unless you'd be happy with a theme that hundreds of thousands of people already have. By all means. If you do deside to get one on your back, make sure you go big. The biggest complaint I've heard from people is that they wish they'd have gone bigger.

IMO if you want to get a killer tattoo start doing your homework. Look at all the artists in 100 miles of your area. Find the one that you absolutely love his work and the way he/she tattoos. Then go to them and tell them how big of a body part you want to cover, what your budget is and if they can draw you up something. Let them have a lot of creative freedom, after all you love their work.

DON'T go into any shop, ESPECIALLY the cheapest shop and bring something you found on the Internet. You are absolutely guaranteed a mediocre tattoo at best. Usually a junk tattoo.

After all these lame tattoo tv shows EVERYONE started tattooing. The consumer needs to really do their homework these days. Not like 10 years ago. There is some amazing artists out there. And yes they are expensive. In the long run it shouldn't matter how much you paid for your sleeve. Believe me 10 years later you won't care how much $ it cost of it still looks amazing.

200 for any good tattoo seems cheap. Most small tattoos taking about 1.5 hrs cost around 200. I would look at there work and make sure it's gtg cause you can't replace a shitty tat

First set looks nice but the second set definitely look like a chick tattoo. I'd like to take my sleeve down to full but my artist is 800 miles away..... I try to fit in some work on my visits home.

And decent tattoo shop will charge a MINIMUM of 100/hour. It is not uncommon to pay 200+. A good tattoo isn't cheap and a cheap tattoo isn't good.

So.......the dudes that do tattoo cheap are always the least experienced and do not have a clientele keeping them busy.

Don't do the wing tattoo, I've never seen a guy with wings and thought it looked good. Just looks gay IMO

I don't really like many other tats on the back, tribal on the back don't look right to me and I don't have anything else to really put back there that has a meaning to it. Might go with a delt tribal on my right arm something similar to above.

I have some garbage on my left arm but thankfully Carson says he can work with it so we shall see. Definitely pays off to find a good artist, even if they charge more. Got quoted $3500 just to do laser removal on my half sleeve and it only cost a few hundred for the tattoo... Hard lesson learned.

There is a pro footy player that has similar to what your after with the wings. His name is johanthon thurston freak of a football player to. Best advice i could give u if your going for a tat, pin it up on a wall or a place where u consistently see every day without failure and if u still like it in 6 months or even 12 months, than re evaluate on that ink. Once done, some say getting the tat can hurt, u wait if u ever want it removed your going to wish u never even thought of getting one.

Have you ever seen a tat on a 70yr old man/woman you though was cool or still looked good? We all get old. Most people regret them eventually IMO. If your not over 40 you dont know what eventually is. lol

It's sad to say, but something as simple as a tattoo can completely ruin somebody's credibility in the professional world. And it's harder to find good paying work with ink done in visible areas.

Yah buddy! Coming out super sick! Carson is awesome, always love the orange he uses. I remember some years back he did a side piece that has a huge orange gear/cogs in it. So amazing.

I would definitely take stock advice from someone with a full sleeve if they have a good track record in the stock market! And of course I would let a woman with a lower back tattoo watch my kids? Haha. Why in your mind would a lower back tattoo make a woman in capable of watching kids, or how would that sway her morals. Haha.

As tattoos get more popular in my opinion it is a double edged sword. The "cool" part of tattoos are that narrow minded people seem to not look past them. They are tabu and not for everyone. Initially that is what enticed me about them. Then on the other side of the coin is people that people should accept them. It's a very unique struggle.

My personal situation....Im covered in tattoos. Arms, legs, back, hands, neck etc. I own two successful businesses, and in the process of starting a third in the next month. I own real estate, cars, every toy I want. I have excellent morals, we are Christian. I don't drink, I don't smoke. I don't lie, cheat, steal or mislead people. I have two very respectful kids. Etc. you can bet that if I decided to play the stock market I would excel at it in due time. I am not saying this to brag or act cocky, just simply stating tattoos do not automatically make someone "loose moraled" or untrustworthy.

I wouldn't go near a place what would charge that little for so much work, that's what you normally pay per hour by someone professional. If your a bodybuilder you can use tattoo's to enhance the look and shape of the body think about it wisely.
