I know going by the books I should get 8 hours of good sleep a night for proper gains, but I have very very rarely ever been able to sleep for a solid 8Hrs. I get quite a few days off from work now and am able to just sleep in and rest in bed for hours, but I would usually be wide awake after 6Hrs sleep.
For maximum gains, do we actually have to be asleep, as in REM sleep or deep sleep? If not, is just being rested in bed as good as sleep?
