Question The weight lifting without a caffeine

I'm planning to completely quit my pre workout jolt and train without adding a caffeine.

Has anyone still had good results in a powerlifting or a bodybuilding without using this stuff?

I have coffee in the morning. I work out in the evening. don't use a stim based pre-workout and never have. I even sell them in my gym (so I obviously get them for cheap but still have no desire to use personally).
once you stop relying on them you may find yourself making better progress, who knows

I really like Glycofuse (Cluster Dextrin) before training or during
This wont effect you like a stimulant but will provide you with some endurance and energy.
Very simple supplement yet very effective.

Thank you both! Tomorrow I'll start my first day without caffeine. My aim is to not to drink a coffee for at least 15 days minimum straight. I'll keep this thread updated for a while.

The mind is the weakest muscle. Focus on improving that and you won't be dependent on stimulants.

Thanks a lot. Ironically but I lasted without caffeine only 2 days maybe because I quited cold turkey.

How do you think, maybe it's because I'm bipolar and on haldol in evening? I also take abilify with tianeptine in morning witch is activating - stabilizing - I usually flush them down with a cup of coffee, but at my workplace where I have to do a physical work without caffeine I'm slower and have less concentration, less able to control myself, am quite sleepy. I hope I don't have also adhd what I wouldn't have to because I don't need also that kind of meds.

Anyway, I won't give up and in future hope to beat this one of my worst habbits.

You've just given me the idea to stop my morning coffee for a few days and see how I feel. . .

I think I went off caffeine altogether for a few months a few years ago (I even got those decaffeinated teabags).

You need to give your body time to adjust, if anyone here who is heavily dependent on caffeine to function stopped cold turkey I'm sure the majority would exhibit symptoms Akin to ADHD initially. Try reducing gradually or ride it out, but don't give yourself another label. Caffeine for people such as myself with ADD really doesn't cut it for concentration.

I tried to go wo caffeine once.... Just once... I was miserable
I wrote a whole thing about how women and children got in my way on the way to the gym, Trump called to tell me not to go, ninjas tried to kill me once I got there.... All because I didn't take caffeine. But not many people get my sense of humor, so I deleted it because I wouldn't want you guys to think I'm weird or anything

Well, I'm on the low dose. Also, I think other meds I take play a role, too. And that caffeine.

Can't stand caffeine, pre-workouts, or other stimulants. All any of them do is make me itchy and jittery. No extra motivation, extra pumps, or anything else of that sort. If there was a performance benefit, I didn't notice it.

Ephedrine makes an excellent pre workout in the absence of caffeine.

People actually use stimulants to increase the performance of their central nervous system (CNS) instead of pumps they get from bloodflow only. (pump is an ancilliary benefit we expect from preworkouts)
Most of the compound movements require excellent coordination and motor neuron activity to activate muscle fibers.
Stimulants directly affect this system to put them into overdrive mode. (You will pay for this, it will make you very tired and sleepy after its active life ends, as a payback)
The better the nervous system activity is the better the weights you lift (due to better muscle fiber activation) and the lesser the injury chances are.
So, I can say that pumps alone won’t give you extra strength or performance (may be it can give little endurance bonus) increase.

If I wasn't clear in my initial post, I apologize and will clarify. I didn't personally perceive any benefit, but the evidence (peer reviewed studies) is clear that there IS a benefit. Further, anecdotally, most of the guys (and girls, my wife competed at a national level) I knew had good experiences. Just because I didn't doesn't mean squat. Hence the latter half of my original post.

Wow, the 4th day without caffeine and it feels GREAT!
Actually I became a chronic caffeine user only 3 years ago because I was also studying at that time and was also overweighted, lived unhealthy lifestyle, loved to get high from drinking coffee lol...
Till 2011 when I completed my first bachelor's degree I rarely had drunk any black tea. I also was an active gym goer that time and could bench 145 kg and deadlift 245 kg x 10 x 3 during those study years... and ironically but it all without any caffeine!
Also, like I have written in my previous posts I'm bipolar so DEFINITELY should avoid caffeine.

Stim pre workout used to be a must for me. I would look forward to this raging energy at the gym but would end up disappointed when all I felt was itchy and distracted/jittery. Ive been taking cialis as a preworkout for over a month now with no added caffeine or stim. Works way better. The pumps are massive and the vasuclarity too. If you can get your hands on cialis Id highly recommend it. If not, citrulline malate (spell check that) works pretty good too

Today after avoiding caffeine so long drank two cups of coffee to celebrate it. That's it. Coffee is just not my drink.

I was COMPLETELY and I mean COMPLETELY caffeine free for several years, but have recently started drinking decaf green tea a couple of times a day. Each cup contains about 5mg caffeine so for me it has a very slightly stimulating effect without being overwhelming. My tolerance these days is around 25mg a day though like I mentioned my intake is usually closer to 10mg a day. Once I get to 25 mg or so, I get jittery and its no fun.

    Good luck!
I was in the same boat, i had to pretty much taper and then go completely off. Funny thing is, I don’t feel any different or tired now that I’m off of caffeine.

I've had caffeine issues for a long time
I remember when I was n my prime years ago in power lifting, I used to take about 800mg-1gram a day in the gym
These days its around 300-600mg per day
I dont think i can quit at all

No, but I did switch to caffeine pills and pour out a third. That way I'm taking about 140mg. Pwo is too much, especially with all the other crap they put in it. I crash too hard, gives me heart palpitations for hours after. Etc
