    Push ups

What's your opinion on doing push ups every day, just a couple sets of 50 before bed or anytime in the day.

Good or Bad if you are on a pretty high volume workout split?

If your doing the same amout all the time you cannot make good progression. Also doing alot pushups the day before chest ,delt, or tricept workouts will make those workouts less effective if your trying to build muscle.

everyone is gonna call BS on this one but I have an experience with this. I have a friend that is 24yo/5'11/190...This guy is ROCK SOLID and hardly ever hits the gym. I asked him what the hell he does and he told me 50 push ups and 50 sit ups per day. Granted he is a genetic freak its works for him. I lifted with him last summer and his first of four working set (flat bench) was 265. So I tried 50 push ups/day split into two sessions whenever. I DID notice a strength gain after about two weeks. I need to start doing this again lol

Well, I'll be one to say you can do them everyday. Or every other day

Im not sure how much high rep pushups would help build chest mass. I've done navy seal workouts where it was basically pushups, pullups, situps everyday/every other day and it was one kick ass workout. Endurance went up, and strength. Not so much mass, then again I was eating to cut and did a hell of a lot of running/swimming/biking.

Its like some people, like Doc M, doing pullups everyday. And look at him.

You just got to know your limits.

I am a big fan of push-ups, but I think it really boils down to goals. As many have pointed out, it probably is not the best thing for size.... but if your goal is to add some strength to your bench, it is a guarantee. It has broken a few plateaus for me.

In the army, I weighed an average of about 165-170lbs, but I use to do pushups almost everyday. Probably in the range of a couple hundred. Great chest/shoulder and tri development. Mix it up and do them with elevated feet, close grip/wide grip/angles, etc... It is both an awesome and effective training method that has stood the test of time for physical fitness standards.

I'm going to be doing 150 push ups very 3 days a week. Leg day and 2 off days.

I'm thinking if it adds a little endurance and strength then that will help me add size on my lift days.

Might not be the best trial to log since I just started a cycle lol
