    calves?

hey guys...My upper body responds wells to working out on a bulk cycle. but my calves are my weak point....i usually work out 4 times a week hitting everything once a week...i would like to get my calves growing.

in your experience: should i work out my calves 2 times a week OR once should be fine...but im having a hard time getting them to grow...I would also appreciate if some one can post a good routine...i usually do about 6-8 set in a pyramid scheme once a week...what do u guys recommend for stubborn calves?

work them everyday. high reps for at least 4 sets. 15-20 reps. worked well for me. just keep them sore and make sure your diet is in check for bulking.

i was always told that the muscles in the calves are constantly load bearing throughout the day. so to get them to grow you have to work the hell out of them every time you train.

mm yeah but so are muscles like your quads and glutes but training them everyday would be counter productive.

calves are STILL muscles like any other in the body. Muscles only grow at rest. The advice seems to be counter intuitive? Maybe we are NOT asking the right questions. Is it possible he is ALREADY over training his calves? Not allowing them to rest properly? Calves do get used constantly.....

i used to have small ass claves... then i tried something, i worked them out EOD..mon- friday...

4x 25 leg press calve extenions...peffect form, all the way up and down
    then seated calve raises 4x25

i dont care what anyone says, but for me it worked... went from 15in to 17 inch calves..

i meant every training day, not EVERYday. thats my bad. i did treat the calves like every other muscle and didn't train them more than twice a week. within the months that i have been training them every workout they have definitely gotten bigger. but im only training 4 days a week.

it absolutely makes sense to say that one would be overtraining the calves by working them every training day if you were to put them in the same catagory as quads or glutes. but walking around during the day i don't feel like the quads and other leg muscles are quite fired like the calves.

therefore, i think calves need to be destroyed a bit more to get them to grow. this is only a theory and i think everyone may react favorably with other techniques.
