Question Arms and fingers falling asleep

    Hey guys
When I sleep at night lately my arms or fingers fall asleep waking me up. This only happens with consistancy when I am on a cycle. Any one else have this problem? I talked to a buddy who used to bodybuild in the 70's and he told me that happened when he was on cycles from him swelling up so fast and when he slept the bends in his arm would cut his circulation. Could it be that or is there maybe more to this?

    Thanks

Yes I get the carpel tunnel when I'm on the gear as well, and alot more so when on GH, the water retention doesn't help, I use to take aldactone to keep the water down and the BP. Check your BP.

Ive noticed my legs going numb once in a while...not sure what is was..I try really hard not to get workd up about little things that may or may not be due to gear simply becuase I dont want to look to far into something that may just have happened naturally.

Holy crap! You guys have parts of your body going "numb" while on a cycle and you aren't that concerned? **** guys. I'd take a trip to a Dr and maybe get a professional opinion?
    Good luck though.

DUDE .. I have the exact same problem lately. Literally waking up in the middle of the night with my arm numb from the bicep down to my fingers. I'm running winny and eq so I don't think water retention is the problem.

Dont sleep with your hands or arms under your pillow, if you do. I had the same problem when i used to sleep and then someone told me to stop sleeping with my arms under my pillow, so i stopped and my arms dont go numb anymore. Do both your arms go numb or just one.

Its very very common for your arm to go numb from the elbow down while you sleep or even during the day if you're cycling.

    Dude, it's gonna be OK.

It's most likely compression of the ulnar nerve, which supplies nerve sensation to the pinkey and outer side of the ring finger. This nerve runs along a small groove in the elbow which during flexion can become compressed.

If the problem becomes chronic you may want to see a Dr, but the best remedy is to try to alter your sleeping position so your arms are relatively straight.

New knowledge to me. If I was going numb I would be worried.

Without telling you what I do locally, I can say I've got A LOT of people on cycles who come to me with this very concern. Probably 85% or so.

I've had times when I lost all feeling and movement due to very little blood circ in my arm. Remember guys, thats all due to how you sleep and not gear.

This happens in both arms, and yes also sometimes just my pinkie.
It has to have something to do with cycles because when I am off cycle it goes away and when I start again it comes back...

I agree with Promiscio, it only happens when I am on a cycle. Never when I am off.

This happens to anyone who gains muscle quickly. It isnt the ulner nerve...It is loss of blood circulation. I have had this for years and years now. It is worse at the ends of cycles when I am peaking. But even now when I haven't cycled I still get it. Wake up at night and it hurts it is so dead and numb from the lack of circulation. Due to the huge increase in size and density while the blood vessels don't have time to do anything about it. After a couple years of being natural it went away for me but would happen once in a blue moon. Nothing major, dont sleep with your hands under the pillow untill it goes away.

Numbness "IS" associated with nerves. I know because I had an in depth discussion about my back problem with my osteopath the other day when he inquired if I was experiencing numbness and explained that he asked because the injury and soreness in my muscles is around the sciatica nerve. If it's happen to you all when on cycles then read up on what juice does to the nervous system, this might aid in a specific answer to your problems.

Nope, if you lost circulation to your arm like that, then it would be blue in the morning.

On-cycle symptoms probably have more to do with excess water retention in the joints than anything else.

So you are saying its nerves and not circulation?

I think it would have to be circulation and not nerves. Whenever it "falls asleep", it takes some time for the feeling to come back. If it was a nerve, seems like it would just come right back...

    Right?

Man, I missed this til now!! lol

Anyway, the vast majority of the problem is often a nerve.....and this could be for several reasons (but always due to compression), such as sleeping on it wrong, increased muscle mass (which even slightly bending the elbow would cause compression), fluid accumulation in the joints or tissues, etc. If it is due to a decrease in circulation, hopefully never a complete prolonged loss of circulation, you likely will notice colour changes in your extremities, as it would have to be your artery that is blocked so the blood supply cannot get to the hand.....usually this is not something you "feel" (you can't "feel" a decrease in blood supply, though there are some exceptions, but you do "feel" it when a nerve is creating sensory difficulties)

Same thing happened to me. I was all scared I messed something up in my arm real bad.It was so bad I didn't lift the last 2 weeks of my 1st cycle. I think I was overtraing as well though.

I have the same problem. Arms always go numb at night when I sleep. If I'm holding my daughter while feeding her my left arm goes numb after a while. If I sit for a little while my legs start to go numb and ache. All part of the fun I guess.

It will be OK. Most bodybuilders get this. It has to do with nerves, back alignment, more mass, and other things. My doc told me that I needed to relax because I thought I was having a heart attack. My left arm from the elbow to the finger tips would go numb just from resting my arm on the steering wheel or on the dinner table. Did an EKG and everything was fine. He told me what I mentioned above. You are turning into a mountain and you need to deal with it.

happens to me almost every night.... it has to do w/ the way you sleep on your arm as well. I tend to pinch my arms underneath my body or rest my head on my bicep...

Happens to me all the time when on. Like NN said...it's from compression. I think my increase in mass is the culprit.

Like NaughtyNurse said, it is blood flow restriction. I get the same **** and I'm not juicing. It has to be with the size of your arms and having them bent when you sleep. It is cutting off circulation. It goes away after you get your heart above the numb limbs and get some blood flowing back to the limb. The only part that sucks is that no matter what position my arms are in when I go to sleep, I always wake up with one arm bent under my pillow.

Compression of the NERVES, not blood vessels. If you lost circulation in your arm for an extended period of time, it would be BLUE.

    I'm going to bump this.

Did anyone else notice the trend of numbess in the left arm/hand. Never hear of the right hand. My left hand gets numb and goes away...been doing that on and off for the past few days.
