Lipitor and statins for cutting accoring to an old pro...
Hey guys.
A guy I recently started training with in his mid 40's from the Powerhouse Gym era has told me that taking lipitor can make you extremely shredded. Anyone else heard reports like this? This guy seems extremely knowedgeable and it makes sense that a compound that inhibits your own body's cholesterol production could make you leaner.
Thanks for any input. I did a quick search on this site and found nothing really about lipitor other than improving your lipid profile.

I've never heard of this - most statin drugs work by interfering with certain enzymes used in the formation of cholesterol. I don't see how this would affect the overall metabolism.

It has nothing to do with metabolic rate. It probably doesn't effect that at all. The statins such as lipitor inhibit hmg-Coa reductase so that your body will make less cholesterol. Most of the cholesterol is found in your body fat along with triglycerides.
Good guess but I think you're off.
