stretch marks
Does anyone know what causes stretch marks? I've got some small ones starting on my outer pecs, almost in my armpit there. I've gained 15 lbs in the gym this year and these are the first I've seen, but I know guys who are skinny and have them, and I know girls who are skinny and have them on their ass or tits. What causes them? What have you guys found keeps them from progressing, or even reverses them?
Thanks for input!

skin stretching too fast..it cant keep up. I am starting to get a lot more. I have stuff called Palmers Cocoa Butter...works alright. It will kind of lighten the color and prevent new ones i think.

If you can get vitamin E lotion, that will also help lighten them up. Trust me on this one, when your only 5'9" and weigh about 285, like I do, they are everywhere. I have them on my chest, shoulders, traps, biceps, lats. . .oddly none on my legs though; they are only localized to my upper body. Anyway, Vitamin E lotion works well.

I like vitamin E, the stretch marks I have are just about back to my regular skin tone, and I have been using it for 6 months on and off.

There is lotion called strixoderm MD made specifically for stretchmarks, pricey(50$/bottle) but it works wonders. Find it at GNC and online, GNC sells it for like 100$. There is also lotion for pregnant women for the stomach, made for skin elasticity.. These lotions have vit E and cocoa butter in them if I remember correctly.

ther'e two kinds of stretch marks. those silvery ones which are more from losing weight and then those darker almost purple ones which are wat i call workout related lol. According to all medical info i have obtained (my mom and friends mom are both nurses) they say once you have it they will not go away and the various cremes and shit are basically useless. however i have know people who have used it and swear it helps, i never thoght to ask but im pretty sure they used theres for the silver ones (i assume cause none who have used them are big lol). dunno if this helps any but thoguht i would post it up.

I agree with the vitamin E lotion. I began getting stretchmarks in my armpits as well as underneathe the armpit closer to my back. I started using vitamin E about 3 months ago and seems to help them fade...or lose color.

Stretch marks are for life...
They will remain on your body for good...
These creams only help fade them out...
Giving the whole 'washout' look and hence less visible to the eyes...
Try 'mederma' it works pretty well...
