    left trap

Awhile back I noticed a sharp stinging/tingling pain in my back. Left trap to be specific. It would only happen during shrugs and Squats. I have managed to stop doing those two workouts, and I never feel that sharp stinging. Only thing is now there is a slight pain and numb feeling almost 24/7. A couple days after I do chest it actually kinda hurts. Any thoughts or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

When you do your squats do you place the bar low on your back or high on the traps? You may have pinched a nerve by placing the bar high up on your traps. Give it some time to heal and see if it clears up. Some very light high rep shrugs and stretching should help some also. Massage or rolling on a tennis ball or lacrosse ball would help too.
