I could careless about MMA/UFC junk

I feel like I am the only one. I would rather watch pain dry then sit and watch one of those events. It seems like my generation is quickly losing intrest in BBing and starting to worship this MMA garbage. Over 1/4 of the students on my campus pimp around their Tapout/Extreme Couture/Affliction stuff and flare their arms out because they WATCH UFC. It's such a fvcking joke. I bounce a few nights a week and usually atleast one night a week, after I toss someone out, they take their shirts off and say something along the lines of "I am a Mau-tai fighter!!!!". I grew up idolizing people like Arnond, Lou, and Ronnie. Now, all the younger people growing up are obbsessed with these damn fighters. I think BBing is quickly decreasing. End of my rant

    Are you for real?

What the Hell has MMA got to do with bodybuilding??? That's like me complaining about the amount of football fans in the UK. It's a fact that other sports are always going to be more popular than bodybuilding.

I don't go into a pub during a football match, call every a twat and insist that Arnie is better than Steven Gerard.

x2 dude. I did BJJ and Judo for 6 years back in the day. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot not only about fighting, but about how to control myself and my temper. Helped me out a lot. It's different now. You need at least $150/month to get any kind of decent training, and you'll probably get very limited training time. If you want to compete you're looking at throwing down at least $80 and usually can only enter one class. It's nothing but a money mill now. McDojos popped up everwhere and now everyone is a fighter.

Right around the time I started feeling like I got everything I was going to get from martial arts, UFC started becoming very popular. Back then, Pride was the thing to watch. The fights were longer and more brutal than UFC. Now it's so commercialized and ridiculous that I don't even mention to people that I used to train martial arts, because the first thing out of people's mouths is about UFC and this and that.

Shit is a joke now, I can't wait until it dies out. I'm sick of seeing little fat kids wearing Tap Out shirts, or the pretty boys in local bars talking about how you should do this and that in a fight because I saw so and so do it in UFC xx.

If you've never tapped anyone out, take off your stupid ****in' Tap Out shirt!

You're missing my point. Kids are all growing thinking its cool or bad ass to know MMA and think they will be holy if they take it up. 95% of these kids are going into it for the wrong reason. Basically to feel or act tough becau theyre insecure which is going to lead to them or someone else getting hurt. Does or has BBing ever hurt anyone? Don't think so. The main beef I have is the god damn fake MMA dudes with their Tapout shit on who think they possess super powers because they wear the fvcker. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the genuine and bad ass MMA dudes. However, the % of them is quite minascule.

I enjoy watching ufc and cage fighting and stuff on telly ocassionly, theres something inspring about the way those guys enter that cage and battle each other to get a name for themselves. That said, i totally agree with you about people who think there hard just coz they watch it and sport the clothing on a daily basis.

Because of all the cage fighting hype, 16-19 year olds everywhere are joining mma gyms, trying to fill the boots of the latest little brazilian street rat. This in turn is breeding a generation of mindless, delinquent rats who want to fight somone just for looking at them. little do they know, if they actually fought a pro, theyde get there ****ing head knocked off there shoulders. MMA is supposed to be a controlled aggresion sport, you leave your fighting attitude at the gym.

Theres nothing worse than a bragger who braggs about how he beats people up, it really annoys me!!!

Not only that, but you have an influx of retards showing up at gyms and dojos looking to hurt people. You don't go there to hurt people, you go there to train. Never the less, theres always some ****tard trying to prove something.

The funny thing is, most of these 30 day MMA champion types forget everything they learned once the first punch is thrown. It's one thing to do the moves and techniques in a training setting, it's another to put them into practice after getting nailed in the face.

    Totally disagree.

I've taken about a year off and on of BJJ and Muay thai and there's always been a high level of respect and caution in the gyms I trained at.

MMA is a great sport, I don't see what is has to do with bbing or why you hate it so much. Do you think everyone should grow up idolizing the things you did or something?

Yeah I know what you mean, I can't stand someone that goes out looking to start trouble... Those type of people always get what's coming to them so I don't sweat em unless they directly disrespect me. It's almost like they're walking around with a sign that says "TOOL BAG" so that's enough punishment to make me happy.

It is only getting worse as the sport goes more mainstream, trust me back in the day it was only a tight nit group that wore BJJ/MMA related gear and when you saw someone wearing it, you knew they trained. Now like you said, every douchebag "trains UFC", everyone is a ****ing fighter.

I don't talk about it at all with people.

Everyone has their own taste. I like BBing, Football, and Hockey. Some like MMA, and some don't. But these little jerk offs need to stop walking around with their goofy (and super unfashionable) shirts on. It's like a 120lb kid walking around with a shirt that says "POWERLIFTER". Are we all supposed to bowl in his presence because of a shirt?

i love MMA. i respect the "real" fighters. they are in some amazing shape and to be able to be disclipined enough to think the way they do while fighting and their adrenaline is pumping is amazing

i use to wrestle myself, still do sometimes so i have a diff outlook i guess

i cant stand all the "wannabe's" rockng the shirts either! pisses me the F off! now if u really train and are legit thats diff. last scuffle i got in was with a guy wearing a tapout shirt hahah, go figure

u wouldnt catch me in one of those shirts

mma/ufc is alright i think it sends alot of bad messages to kids. Ever since mma got big all these kids think they can just pick fights, ive seen it coutless times. i remember some big fat black kid at my gym saw me and his friend came up too me and said "hey you look big, wanna fight my friend is a mma fighter" lol i just laughed. Then he called me a "*****" , they were only like 17 or 18 yrs old lol

It's a good sport but that kids is doing it for the wrong reasons..... He was probably made fun of in highschool and now he's looking to "get revenge" on guys that look better.....

It's a different crowd populating the sport than 5-6 years ago. Back when I was training you didn't go around looking for fights in the street, rather avoiding them if for no other reason than to avoid jail. The logic being you know what you can do to someone, if there is no real physical harm being threatened, avoid it...it's going to be tough to explain why theres a dude on the floor with a broken arm, leg, etc.

Kids now think it's the shit to go around getting in fights so they can tell their friends about it while ordering the newest Affliction shirt. Just search Youtube, there's plenty of McChampions doing retard shit solely for the purpose of having a video to show. It's not about respect any more...it's about being a bad ass.

I think the core problem of this thread is he is projecting the problems of a fan base onto the sport itself.
Look at NFL games with all the drunk fat losers getting completely wasted before the game even begins. Do you condone that? Whats the point of even trying to watch a game you're too drunk to see? 90% of these people are utter trash. (imo)

I understand ****** 110% but you cant bash a sport cause its fans are stupid fvcks. If that was the case you might as well not like any sport at all (I personally don't). Even music, look at rap and its fanbase. Look at the hardcore metal heads with 50 piercings on their face covered in ink, they look ridiculoous.
I think you chose MMA simply cause the trends have been changing recently (with it getting more popular).

And realistically, even if you took MMA away guess what the fans will do? Find another hobby where they can act like deushbags, so you really never win either way. MMA happens to be the ONLY sport I can watch. (I said CAN watch (as in tolerate) not WANT to watch).

Golf, football, basketball OMG what a nightmare. But MMA is pretty exciting to watch most of the time. Its the only sport that can keep me awake..

I bash the sport....i could care less about fans....to each their own of course but personally i think it's crap. And i know for a fact that it's against the teachings of almost ALL of the disciplines those fighters employ to beat the bejesus **** out of someone else for....fun

I cant say I hate it because I have NEVER watched one. I dont watch wresting, football/soccer/baseball or really any sports on TV. I never watch reality shows or game shows. I dont watch the news either.

Movies, SiFi, Thrillers, comedy, cartoons and of course Porn is the only thing worth watching.
