    question about breaking amps

I have noticed there are little pieces of glass in the bottom of my amp when
I draw out all the oil. I hope this is safe. I guess some of the chips of glass went in it when I broke the top of the amp off. I doubt I can draw any glass out anyways...

get filter needles instead of drawing up with a regular needle, and amp breaker (or use a pen cap) for cleaner breaks.

It isn't mentioned much but everyone should be using 5 micron filter needles when using amps regardless weather you see glass or not.

And to state the obvious, if you draw from an amp with a filter needle, you don't shoot with it.

AN AMPULE OPENER!...if you do it right you don,t need a filter...you would lose part of the gear in the filter unless you had some steril oil to purge it with!....JUST GET AN AMPULE OPENER!

Even with an opener some small pieces of glass could fall into the gear. I've never worried about it, but some do.

just pull some air to clear it, a filter needle is just a needle with a little bit of mesh in it, it's not like a watman we're talking about. Anyway it's proper technique to always use one with an amp, you can get away with not though.

I think if it's problematic to get thing like amp opener, there's also one alternative as knife for cutting glass (usually used by artists).
