Depends on the individual. Steroids effects everyone differently. First you have to find out whether or not you are prone to male pattern baldness. Look at the men on your mom's side of the family. Although baldness on the father's side can have effects on you too. Finasteride and Dutaseride are the two most common drugs used to prevent androgenic alopecia. It works by preventing testosterone from converting to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is the main culprit behind hairloss. Steroids can speed up MPB if one is prone to it. Finasteride and Dutasteride can help in preventing hairloss. However, if you are prone to hairloss and you choose to use AAS you may need to stay on finasteride even after your cycle if you want to keep your hair.

Correct. The main issue the the 5 aplha reduction of test to dht. This potent androgen is present in the scalp pores and weakens hair follices. There are precautions you can take besides finasteride and dutasteride. If you do chose to go the oral med route i recommend dutasteride. It inhibits both iso enzymes of 5 alpha reducatse while finateride only inhibits one. Dutasteride is more effective than half the dose of finasteride.
Less invasive precautions are topical solutions such as nizoral shampoo and topical spiro. These address the issues at the hair folicle level, reducing androgens right at the site and not lowering overall body dht levels.

My mothers father has a full head of hair at age 65, and has been smoking since the age of 15. No one on my Mothers side is bald.
On the other instance my father began balding at 35.

Should i supplement both dutasteride while using a topical solution?

Anyone have experience with success in preventing hairloss?

The reality is if you are prone to MPB its inevitable..it can be slowed or delayed but its going to happen. A med like duta AND a topical is overkill. Dutasteride is a serious step not to be taken lightly. DHT plays a role in several key functions nt the least of which being sex drive., lowering overall body levels when you could attack it at the site only using topical products may not be very prudent especially if you are not prone to MPB.

    I have mpb

I have been on test/var/dbol over the last 16 weeks hair has thinned a little but nothing drastic.

I use finistride/minoxidil/nioxin shampoo conditioner and vitamins/and any other vitamins which are good for healthy hair

I know I'm late to the party, but thank you for the information. I found it helpful and really appreciate your knowledge. I don't have mpb, but I have noticed my hair thinning a bit from 600mg of Test E per week. PSAs are great, bloods are great, but I can't help but notice the long hairs showing up more often than they used to.

Was going to try the dutasteride, but will actually give the nizoral shampoo or spiro a try. Already taking Saw Palmetto and sisterol, and don't want to push my dht levels too low to where it affects my sex drive.

If my rat were to take dutasteride, how much would it take daily?

    Thanks again, brother.

    Sam

I would not do finasteride or dutasteride at your age. Your body hormone have not fully "matured".

Depriving your body of DHT at 20 years old will lead to problems ahead.

I'm 44. I assume you're referring to one of the other participants?

No worries, my friend. After reading around, it does seem to have some very mixed reviews from men of all ages. I'm going to try the shampoo, first, and continue to go the Saw Palmetto route and see if that helps anything. If not, I'll go buy a lollipop and do my best Kojak impersonation. :-)

Yep, Jimmy is spot on; both Dutasteride and Finasteride to a lesser degree are not to be messed with. I've read some horror stories through my research on MPB from men who have used these drugs.

I'm going topical all the way.
